ABOUT Professional Assistance For Development Action (PRADAN)

PRADAN (Professional Assistance for Development Action) is a non-government, non-profit organisation that works with India’s rural underserved. Across ten states in the country, PRADAN professionals engage with disadvantaged communities to help them emerge from poverty and lead a life of dignity. PRADAN promotes Self-Help Groups, develops locally relevant economic activities, mobilises finances from government schemes, and introduces models to improve livelihoods of the marginalised communities and sustain their progress. As of 31st March 2023, PRADAN along with partners, impacted the lives of 2.64 million rural households spread across 25,421 villages, in 575 community development blocks, 133 districts, and 8 states of India.

Responsibilities: 

  • Coordinate with line departments at the district level to mobilize resources for effective implementation of INRM (Integrated Natural Resource Management) activities to achieve project outcomes.
  • Support project team and community institutions in preparing Village Development Plans (VDP) based on INRM approach.
  • Assist technical personnel at Gram Panchayat, Block, and District levels in preparing Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) and prioritizing key INRM activities.
  • Facilitate integration of watershed principles in planning and implementation under VB-G RAM G and other convergence programs.
  • Support inclusion of INRM activities in GPDP and Annual Action Plans (AAP) of line departments.
  • Provide field demonstrations, implementation, technical guidance, and handholding support to community institutions, Panchayats, community cadres and frontline government workers.
  • Developing integrated management plans and strategies for sustainable use and conservation of natural resources.
  • Conducting comprehensive assessments of natural resources including water, soil, forests, and biodiversity.
  • Managing project objectives from inception to completion, ensuring that project goals and objectives are met.
  • Assist other project team members in implementing NRM-based livelihood plans.
  • Prepare reports, documentation, and presentations based on field data for project stakeholders.
  • Undertake any other work related to project implementation and management as assigned by the Reporting Person or Project Team.

Eligibility criteria Qualifications and Experience:

  • B. Tech in Civil, Natural Resource Management, Agriculture, Diploma in Civil or any relevant discipline with experience.
  • 2 years of experience in NRM / watershed or rural livelihood programs

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong technical knowledge of Integrated Natural Resource Management (INRM) principles, including design and implementation of NRM structures.
  • Proficiency in GIS tools such as ArcGIS and other geospatial applications for planning, mapping, and data analysis.
  • Sound understanding and hands-on experience in rural livelihood promotion, with a focus on sustainable practices and community-driven approaches.
  • Knowledge about government schemes and programs, including convergence with line departments to enhance program effectiveness.
  • Skilled in preparation of Village Development Plans (VDPs), Detailed Project Reports (DPRs), and technical designs for natural resource management interventions.
  • Demonstrated expertise in community mobilization, capacity building, and training, along with effective field-level implementation of NRM activities.
