ABOUT Brahmaputra Board

Brahmaputra Board is a statutory body set up under an Act of Parliament (Brahmaputra Board Act 1980) under the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Department of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation. The jurisdiction of Brahmaputra Board includes Brahmaputra and Barak Valley and covers all the States of the North Eastern Region including Sikkim and part of West Bengal falling under Brahmaputra basin. The Board consists of 21 Members under the Chairman, Brahmaputra Board (4 full time Members and 17 part time Members) The Board started functioning with its Headquarters at Guwahati from 11.01.1982. As per subsection (2) of section (3) of the Brahmaputra Board Rules, 1981 Board has established a Coordination Office at New Delhi.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Collect, clean and analyse large and diverse datasets from multiple sources including satellite data, field surveys, IoT sensors and government databases.
• Assist in establishing and maintaining an integrated and centralized data management system for the Brahmaputra Board.
• Assist in the application of machine learning, statistical modelling, and predictive analytics to river basin and environmental datasets.
• Collaborate with GIS, hydrology, and engineering teams to integrate spatial and non-spatial data for multi- dimensional analysis.
• Create and maintain structured databases and data pipelines using relevant tools and technologies.
• Document data methodologies, standard operating procedures and metadata as per data governance policies.
• Support the development of decision support systems (DSS) and digital platforms used by the Brahmaputra Board.
• Ensure data accuracy, security and compliance with data standards and protocols.

Essential Qualification

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering / Computer Science/Statistics.
• Proficiency in Python/R/SQL/Java
• Experience in data manipulation tools like Pandas/NumPy/Tableau/Power Bl.
• Working knowledge of machine learning frameworks (e.g. TensorFlow/Scikit-learn) and non-relational databases (MongoDB).
• Expertise in ETL Processes and familiarity with tools like Talend/Apache NiFi.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.

Desirable

• Upper age limit 30 years

Emoluments’ (consolidated)

• ₹ 40,000.00 (Rupees forty thousand) per month.
