Organization: One World Media
Apply By: 20 Aug 2025
About the Organization
One World Media is a non-profit organisation founded over 30 years ago by a group of journalists who recognised international reporting at that time was limited and often reinforced stereotypes. They set out to encourage and celebrate more and better quality reporting from the global south.
Since then we have been working to support journalists and filmmakers globally to tell stories that inform and connect us all.
About the Program
The Fellowship is aimed at mid-career journalists and filmmakers from the global south. Working in film, print, audio, photography or multimedia, the fellows seeks to develop their existing career reporting in the global south, raising awareness and breaking down prejudices with integrity and creativity.
The One World Media Fellowship is our flagship programme to support and champion global journalism and documentary filmmaking. Every year, we select a cohort of talented fellows who receive mentoring, industry support, and funding to produce original stories from the global south.
Since 2001, One World Media has supported nearly 300 emerging journalists and filmmakers to report from over 100 countries. OWM provides each Fellow with a reporting grant, one-to-one mentoring, invaluable workshops and events by industry experts.
We seek to champion diverse emerging talent, and particularly encourage submissions from underrepresented groups (people of colour, ethnic groups, women, LGBTQ+, or people with disabilities).
This year, the Fellowship is growing – with new funding partners, more tailored opportunities, and a range of grants available to support different kinds of projects. More info coming soon.
