Established in 1976, NIUA, is a premier Institute of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India for research and capacity building for urban sector in India. Job Description
- Provide technical inputs for the URMP for Delhi on aspects related to water management vis-à-vis urban rivers.
- Lead the technical work related to objectives 2, 5, and 6 of the URMP framework—pollution control, reuse of treated used water and maintaining good quality return flow.
- Work closely with other specialists to design and carry out the baseline assessment of Delhi.
- Conduct primary surveys on different aspects of water and groundwater management of the Yamuna in Delhi
- Lead the liaison with water-related government and non-government stakeholders in Delhi.
- Identify water/groundwater-related interventions for implementation in the URMP for Delhi.
- Prepare regular reports and presentations for updating progress of work to senior officials and decision makers
- Carry out any other tasks assigned by the Team Leader
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
- Masters/PhD in Water Resources Engineering/Civil Engineering/Water policy and governance or a related discipline.
- 7–10 years of experience in the water resources management sector
- Experience in providing technical assistance in urban water management, in particular for urban hydrology, fluvial flooding, integrated water resources management, and related fields.
- Experience in conducting capacity and research needs assessments for the urban water sector
- Experience in carrying out action research projects in the urban water sector
- Experience working with senior officials in city and State governments.
- Up to date knowledge about various groundwater laws, regulations, and policies applicable in Delhi.
- Excellent writing and communication skills in English. Preference will be given to candidates with oral and written communication skills in Hindi and other regional languages as well.
- Strong inter personnel and co-ordination skills, working independently, and flexibly.
