About the Organization
WASSAN (Watershed Support Services and Activities Network) is a prominent non-profit organization committed to fostering economic prosperity alongside ecological security for communities in rainfed regions across India. Since its inception in 1999 and based in Hyderabad, WASSAN has worked intensively in four states and engages extensively through networks in another ten states.
With an annual turnover of approximately INR 40 crores and a dedicated team of over 400 staffs across various locations, WASSAN implements impactful programs focused on natural resource management, rainfed agriculture, and agroecological transformation.
Job Description
Operations Management
- The CEO oversees all operational activities such as procurement, storage, sales, and logistics. They ensure that operations are well-planned, efficient, and completed on time. The CEO also initiates value addition processes like cleaning, grading, and packaging to improve product quality and marketability.
- Farmer Engagement and Capacity Building
- The CEO works closely with the farmer members of the FPO. They organize training programs, awareness sessions, and capacity-building workshops. They ensure regular communication with members and address any complaints or grievances.
- Team Supervision and Performance Monitoring
- The CEO manages all FPO staff and field-level teams. They assign tasks, monitor performance, and ensure all team members are aligned with the goals of the FPO. Regular reviews and feedback are provided for team improvement.
- Market Linkages and Business Development
- A key role of the CEO is to build market linkages that help farmers get better prices. They connect with buyers, traders, and companies to create marketing opportunities. The CEO also explores new business models and revenue streams to increase the FPO’s income and sustainability.
Compliance and Reporting
- It is the CEO’s duty to ensure the FPO complies with all legal and statutory requirements including GST and audits. They prepare monthly and quarterly reports and submit them to the Board of Directors and Project Manager, highlighting key performance indicators, challenges, and action plans.
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
- Graduate in B. Com/MBA/Agriculture BSC.
- Minimum 1 years of experience in managing or working with FPOs (MANDATORY).
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Experience in handling agriculture supply chains, procurement, and marketing
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of government schemes and funding mechanisms for FPOs.
- Experience with digital tools for agriculture and rural development.
- Fluency in Hindi and English language and willingness to travel in rural areas
