We solve the waste management crisis of the Indian Himalayan Region. Our work lies at the intersection of climate change, biodiversity, habitat conservation, and informal livelihoods. With a team of 200+ Warriors spread across various locations nestled in the beautiful landscapes of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, we strive to create effective waste management solutions across urban and rural landscapes, with a special focus on eco-sensitive and tourist areas.
Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Communications Manager to join our team in Himachal Pradesh. In this role, you will work closely with project teams to design, plan, and execute communications strategies that drive awareness, engagement, and impact. You will oversee the creation of project-specific campaigns, IEC materials, field content collection, and external communication. This is an opportunity to use the power of storytelling and design to support environmental change on the ground.

Job Responsibilities
Strategy and Planning
- Develop and execute project-specific communications strategies in collaboration with Project Managers and the Communications team.
- Supervise the implementation of communication deliverables across all project locations.
Content Development
- Lead the creation of culturally relevant IEC materials such as posters, films, presentations, and other collateral.
- Coordinate with freelance designers and creative partners to deliver high-quality materials.
- Plan and implement online and offline community engagement campaigns in collaboration with the social media team and field teams
Field Content Coordination
- Work closely with Project Managers to collect raw content (photos, videos, stories) from project locations.
- Transform field content into compelling digital, print, and multimedia outputs
External Communications
- Draft and edit important external communication, including quarterly and annual reports.
- Support media engagement efforts to amplify Waste Warriors' work among local and national audiences.
Capacity Building
- Design and organize communication skill-building programs for project teams to enhance their outreach and storytelling capabilities.
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
- A Bachelor's degree or professional diploma in Journalism, Mass Communications, PR, Languages, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in communications, behavior change communication (BCC), IEC campaigns, content production, or project management.
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills in both English and Hindi.
- Experience in designing campaigns and creating design using tools like Canva and Illustrator, with basic photo and video editing capabilities.
- Deep interest in environmental sustainability, preferably with exposure to waste management issues in India.
- Familiarity with digital work tools, including Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms), WeTransfer, Dropbox, and similar platforms.
- A proactive approach to trend analysis and content creation that resonates with target audiences.
- Personal access to a laptop or computer is mandatory.
