Term: 165 hours 45 days (1.5 months approx.)

Coordinator: Designated Person from the Tanager International Private Limited Team

Assignment summary

Consultant GAP will be responsible for providing agricultural extension services to project farmers regularly and motivate them to adapt the Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs) for improved quality & yield of their produce. The Consultant in close coordination with the GAP Extension Officer and GAP associate will support the GAP activities in mint, paddy and potato crop from the allotted villages and project farmers (220 approximately for each consultant) with Shubh Mint project.

Responsibilities/tasks

Training and Capacity Building for Paddy Farmers

Key Responsibilities

• Organize and deliver structured pre-season and in-season training sessions for identified paddy farmers within the project area.
• Ensure effective mobilization, communication, and participation of farmers in all training activities.
• Coordinate with local stakeholders to secure training venues and materials.

Practical Demonstrations on Paddy Cultivation

Key Responsibilities

Conduct on-field demonstrations covering key agronomic practices, including but not limited to:

• Land preparation techniques
• Sowing and transplanting methods
• Nutrient management
• Integrated Pest and Disease Management (IPDM)
• Harvesting and post-harvest handling

Ensure farmer engagement and interaction during each demonstration for knowledge transfer.

Identification and Registration of Mentha Farmers

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct field surveys to identify and register new Mentha (mint) farmers in designated project locations.
• Facilitate orientation sessions on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) relevant to Mentha cultivation.
• Maintain accurate records of registered farmers and training attendance.

Demonstration of Decomposer Application

Key Responsibilities

• Identify suitable demonstration sites and facilitate application of decomposers on selected plots.
• Educate farmers on sustainable crop residue management practices to improve soil health.
• Monitor field performance and document results of decomposer use.

Data Collection and Documentation – Paddy Crop

Key Responsibilities

• Collect field-level data including:
• Attendance at training sessions
• Input utilization
• Crop development stages
• Yield performance estimates
• Farmer observations and feedback
• Ensure all data is accurately documented and submitted in a timely manner in accordance with project reporting protocols.

Identification and Engagement of Potato Farmers

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and engage new potato growers in the intervention area.
• Conduct field visits and structured interviews to assess current practices, challenges, and potential areas for support.
• Document findings and provide input for future intervention strategies.

Additional Tasks

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake any other project-related activities as assigned by the supervisor or project management team, including participation in planning meetings, workshops, and community mobilization events.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

• Diploma/Intermediate in Science/ Graduate Agriculture
• Minimum 1 year experience in prior agriculture field preferred.
• Basic Knowledge Microsoft Office (Word, excel), Internet, Online Form Filling.
• Good interpersonal skills
• Basic knowledge of English and good knowledge of Local Language.
• Must possess an android phone and a valid driving License.

Billing/invoicing

The invoice should be raised in the name of Tanager International Private Limited and charged to Project Code #J6012. Payment will be made upon the submission of a valid invoice along with a detailed work report verified by the coordinator. All supporting documents must be billed to Tanager International Private Limited for processing.
