● Language Proficiency: English (expert), Hindi/Bengali (preferred for translation/localization)
Position Summary
We are seeking a talented and purpose-driven Content Writer/Editor with strong storytelling skills and a background in the development/social sector. The individual will work closely with the Communications and Programs teams to craft impactful written content that highlights the voices of the communities we serve and the work we do. This is a freelance, part-time role with a flexible hybrid setup—ideal for professionals who are passionate about climate action and grassroots narratives.
Key Responsibilities
● Content Creation & Editing
- Write, edit, and proofread compelling content for social media, reports, newsletters, blogs, social media, donor documents, website, and campaigns - Translate complex programmatic information into accessible human-centered narratives
- Ensure consistency in tone, grammar, and formatting across all written content
● Storytelling & Impact Documentation
- Develop field-based human-interest stories, farmers journeys, and case studies from our agriculture, energy, and youth skilling programs.
- Conduct interviews with field staff, fellows, beneficiaries, and partners - Support creation of multimedia scripts (video scripts, podcast episodes, etc.)
● Social Media & Campaign Support
- Collaborate on short posts and visual text content for ongoing campaigns and awareness drives
- Provide editorial support during key events, workshops, and launches
● Content Calendar & Coordination
- Work with the Communications team to contribute to monthly content calendars - Coordinate with project teams to gather program updates and impact data
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
● Educational Qualification:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Journalism, Communications, English, Development Studies, or related fields
● Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of professional writing/editing experience, preferably in the development sector
- Proven portfolio of published stories, reports, or campaign content
● Skills & Attributes:
- Strong Story Teller
- Strong writing, editing, and interviewing skills
- Deep understanding of development sector themes (climate change, gender, livelihoods, etc.)
- Ability to manage deadlines and multiple content requests independently - Proficiency in MS Word, Google Docs, Canva, and social media platforms - Knowledge of SEO writing or video scriptwriting will be a bonus
● Language Proficiency:
- Fluency in English (verbal and written) is essential
- Hindi or Bengali (preferred for local interviews and translations)
Reporting Structure
Reports To: Senior Manager/Leadership
Travel Requirements
Minimal travel may be required for field visits, as per assignment
Compensation
Remuneration: Up to ₹40,000/- per month (based on time commitment and deliverables) Nature of Engagement: Part-time, freelance
