Location – Remote (Need-based Travel)

Position Overview

We are seeking a Data Quality & Field Monitoring Officer to strengthen the credibility and reliability of our Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) system. The role involves conducting field-level quality checks, ensuring adherence to data collection protocols, and triangulating findings with secondary sources. The officer will provide timely feedback to enumerators and supervisors, enabling corrective action and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

1. Field-Level Data Quality Checks

  • Conduct spot checks during surveys to observe enumerator practices (probing, recording, consent).
  • Carry out back checks by revisiting or calling respondents to validate recorded responses.
  • Review audio recordings (with consent) to assess interview tone, flow, and adherence to guidelines.
  • Verify GPS coordinates and time stamps of completed surveys to ensure accuracy and integrity.
  • Scan submitted forms for completeness, skipped questions, or illogical entries.
  • Analyze enumerator-level data patterns to detect irregularities (e.g., unusually high scores, very short durations).

2. Data Triangulation and timely feedback

  • Check consistency of results across districts/zones and validate unusual trends with field supervisors.
  • Provide constructive feedback to enumerators and supervisors on common errors.

4. Reporting & Coordination

  • Prepare short field monitoring reports with observations and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with M&E team to integrate quality insights into program dashboards.
  • Ensure adherence to ethical standards, including informed consent and confidentiality.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Statistics, Public Policy, or related field.
  • 2–3 years of experience in data triangulation, interaction with community/client, field monitoring, data collection supervision, or M&E.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to spot inconsistencies and ensure logical data flow.
  • Strong communication and feedback skills; ability to engage constructively with respondent and team.
  • Willingness to travel extensively to field locations.
