Pratham was founded in 1995, to provide pre-school education to children in Mumbai slums. Over the last 30 years Pratham has grown to be one of the largest non-profit organizations working to provide quality education to children and youth in over 25 states and union territories across the country, through a range of interventions.

Pratham is a widely recognized organization, having received notable awards such as the Lui Che Woo Prize, WISE Prize for Innovation, Skoll Award for Social Entrepreneurship, the Henry R Kravis Prize in Leadership, and the CNN-IBN Indian of the Year for Public Service.

Job Description

The District Coordinators will support the implementation of the government partnership program in Assam. This is an opportunity to expand Pratham’s work in Assam. They will interact and work closely with District, Block, and Cluster level officials and teachers, providing on-site support to them at the school level.

Job Responsibilities

  • Designing course structures, methodology and deliverables.
  • Preparing and updating content for course manuals-English, Hindi and Math.
  • Conducting quarterly training of teachers for the content to be delivered in the schools. Traveling to the field locations [Centres) to monitor and review the execution of the program.
  • Liaising with the Program head.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

  • Direct liaison with the District and Block Administration to ensure the smooth execution of the project.
  • This will include holding regular meetings, planning training sessions, sharing reports, as well as discussing any challenges and areas requiring
  • support from the District Administration.
  • Work closely with the state leadership to ensure the smooth implementation of the program.
  • Participate actively in trainings organized by Pratham to understand more about the TaRL approach.
  • Support overall planning for the project at the District and Block levels
  • Provide on-site support to teachers on classroom processes
  • Travel to project locations to understand implementation challenges and provide troubleshooting and course corrections as needed (at the school level).
  • Keep the rest of the project team informed of the latest developments occurring at the field level.
  • Ensure that data is collected by the government in a timely manner and that the analysed data is being disseminated to all levels of decision-makers in the government school system at the block level.
  • Support trainings arranged for teachers and Resource Persons
  • Act as a Master Trainer whenever training for teachers is held.
  • Travel to other districts to support colleagues or government officials as needed.

Desired Qualifications and Experience

  • Completion of Bachelor's/ Masters
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in education programs, preferably in foundational learning or classroom support roles
  • Prior experience of working with government systems is an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of early grade learning, especially foundational literacy and numeracy.
  • Ability to conduct classroom observations and provide pedagogical support.
  • Excellent facilitation and training skills.
  • Fluency in the local language.
  • Ability to communicate in Assamese, English or Hindi for reporting purposes.
  • Good understanding of data systems and basic proficiency in Excel and Word
  • Good documentation skills
