We collaborate with decision-makers in governments, foundations, NGOs, development and research organizations globally to meet their evidence needs and facilitate the use of evidence in their work.

Job Description

The Global Partnerships Communications Consultant will work closely with Senior Management and the Business Development team to translate 3ie’s complex technical work and strategic vision into clear, compelling stories that resonate with diverse external audiences, including donors, partners, and influencers. This role sits at the intersection of storytelling, design, and fundraising, and is central to strengthening how 3ie presents itself in high-stakes external engagements.

The Consultant will be expected to rapidly turn around polished, donor-ready materials such as pitch decks, briefs, case studies, proposals, and campaign assets to support fundraising, networking, and advocacy initiatives across the organization. This is a highly collaborative, fast-paced role suited to a communications professional who is visually strong, audience-focused, and motivated to contribute meaningfully to 3ie’s mission by helping senior leaders communicate impact with clarity and confidence.

This contract is expected to have a duration of one year, with a possibility for extension. A commitment of 20-40 hours per week is expected, contingent on the availability of the successful candidate and the needs of the organization.

Job Responsibilities

Strategic Communications and Narrative Development:

  • Conducting comprehensive prospect research to and preparing internal briefs to ensure that 3ie fundraisers utilize written and verbal language that will resonate with target audiences.
  • Translating complex technical concepts, research, and strategic priorities into clear, engaging communication materials for external audiences.
  • Developing tailored narratives and messaging to support fundraising, partnerships, and advocacy efforts.
  • Working closely with senior leaders to refine key messages for donor meetings, events, and outreach.

Visual Design, Branding, and Donor Facing Materials:

  • Designing and producing high-quality, donor-ready materials such as pitch decks, briefs, case studies, proposals, and campaign assets.
  • Establishing and maintaining a consistent visual language and branding for Global Partnerships communications.
  • Ensuring all fundraising and partnership materials are polished, professional, and aligned with 3ie’s positioning.

Rapid Response Communication and Campaign Support:

  • Responding quickly to requests from Senior Management and fundraising teams for high-quality communications support.
  • Supporting fundraising, advocacy, and networking campaigns with timely, audience-appropriate communications products.
  • Coordinating closely with partnerships and technical teams to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency across materials.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

  • 3–6 years of professional experience in development communications, strategic communications, marketing, or storytelling roles within international development, social impact, nonprofits, or mission-driven organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical ideas into clear, compelling narratives tailored to different audiences, including donors, partners, and senior stakeholders.
  • Strong graphic design and visual communication skills, and working knowledge of professional design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), Figma, or equivalent platforms.
  • Proven experience producing donor-facing or partner-facing materials, including pitch decks, briefs, case studies, proposals, or campaign assets, with a strong eye for layout, branding, and narrative flow.
  • Highly responsive, self-directed, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, including rapid turnaround of high-quality materials for senior leadership.
  • Preference will be given to candidates living in a Low- or Middle-Income Country (LMIC), with the ability to collaborate effectively across time zones including Asia.
