Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

• Master’s or advanced degree in law, human rights, or social justice

Min. years of relevant work experience

• At least 5-7 years of experience in legal research and analysis related to human rights, constitutional law, or social inclusion in the Indian context.
• Demonstrated experience in conducting legal analysis, developing written documents, policy papers, or advocacy materials on the rights of marginalized or excluded groups (such as Dalits, Tribals, LGBTQIA+, persons with disabilities, nomadic and denotified tribes, etc.).
• Prior experience in applying a Human Rights-Based Approach (HRBA) and/or conducting legal assessments to inform development programming would be an added advantage.

Required skills and competencies

Knowledge and Technical Expertise:

• Proven expertise in human rights and constitutional law, with strong knowledge of legal and policy frameworks affecting marginalized groups in India, and application of intersectionality and HRBA principles.
• Excellent analytical and writing skills, with demonstrated ability to produce clear, actionable legal analysis and recommendations for development programming and advocacy.

Desired skills Documentation skills:

• Excellent documentation skills, including technical and analytical writing.

Core Competencies:

• Demonstrates integrity and ethical standards.
• Promotes the vision, mission, and strategic goals of UNDP

Required Language(s)

• Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English is essential.
