Vipla Foundation is looking for passionate, rights-based legal professionals to support survivors of trafficking and sexual exploitation through legal case management, system coordination, and victim-centric justice facilitation. This role involves fieldwork, court support, compensation advocacy, stakeholder liaison, and data tracking — all aimed at strengthening survivor access to justice.

Position Overview:

Vipla Foundation is seeking a female candidate of minimum 3 years’ experience to support the survivors of trafficking and sexual exploitation to access justice through increased participation in the criminal justice system. The role involves extending legal support services to survivors of trafficking & sexual exploitation, coordinating with the systemic stakeholders like police, prosecutors and CWCs for case follow up and action; tracking legal case progress, extending support to the survivors during the investigation and entire duration of trial and help survivors to access compensation. A female candidate having a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the related field holding a degree in Law or a Master’s degree in Social Work would be preferred. Candidates with demonstrated expertise on assisting sex-trafficking and POCSO victims would be an added advantage.

The shortlisted candidate will be working closely with Sr. Project Manager and the Head Office Team of Vipla Foundation at Mumbai that would provide the technical assistance in the interventions.

Who is Eligible to apply?

A female candidate with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the related field and holding a degree in Law. The candidate is required to have a rights-based understanding of the issue and have empathetic behaviour. Candidates with demonstrated expertise on assisting sex-trafficking and POCSO victims would be an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Weekly visits to shelter homes and conduct legal process orientation sessions with survivors of trafficking and sexual exploitation to enable their informed participation in legal justice processes.
  • Providing legal case support and coordinating with police and prosecutors for ensuring speedy delivery of justice.
  • Convening monthly meetings with relevant stakeholders (CWC, DLSA, Police, and Protective Home etc.) to discuss cases, and track case progress for timely delivery of service.
  • Aiding the victims of sexual violence to access compensation and support them by coordinating with the DLSA and other agencies.
  • Accompanying/assisting the victims during medical examination, court appearances and other allied assistance in relation to their participation in justice process.
  • Regular visits, coordination and communication with the Government Protective Home Personnel, Survivors, DLSA, Police, Prosecutor and CWC for case update and follow-up.
  • Organising trainings for police, prosecutors and Judges on victim centric support.
  • Data Capturing and Management through specially designed tools to track project deliverables.
  • Work in coordination with the Mumbai Head Office Team and the Sr. Project Manager to ensure timely execution of project deliverables.
  • Reporting to Sr. Project Manager. Any other relevant task in furtherance of project objectives.

The skills required for the position are:

  • Having an understanding and experience of the legal justice system in cases of sexual crimes.
  • Ability to undertake multi-level coordination with the justice delivery and other stakeholders.
  • Possesses computer skills, including MS Office and excel for accurate data capturing of the project deliverables.
  • Good Communication Skills-both oral and written in English, Marathi and Hindi. Pro-activeness –Ability to self-start things and operate independently.
  • Good documentation skills, coordination, communication, interpersonal and networking skills.
  • Willingness to travel as per requirement of the project.

Qualification:

Graduate/Postgraduate degree in Law or equivalent with a minimum of 03 years of experience in the development sector.

Remuneration 4 – 4.2 LPA
