Job Description
MSC helps investors deploy catalytic and climate capital confidently—structuring deals that balance risk, unlock co-investment, and deliver sustainable long-term value. Join us to play a leading role in catalyzing capital where it is needed most in the long term.
The Manager – Catalytic Finance will focus on enabling access to large pools of climate and resilience capital by supporting transaction advisory, fund structuring, and risk management solutions. The role involves working with global climate funds, DFIs, and multilateral investors to design de-risking structures and blended instruments that mobilize private investment for climate adaptation, disaster risk management, and MSME resilience. She or he shall also support transaction advisory, investment structuring, and blended finance initiatives that enable private capital to flow into impact sectors such as MSME financing, climate resilience, inclusive insurance, and digital finance. The role combines investment banking style rigor with development finance objectives.
Job Responsibilities
- Capital Mobilization & Fund Structuring: Support the design of vehicles and structures that channel large-scale climate and disaster risk finance to local markets. Assist in developing proposals and investment frameworks for accessing funds such as the Green Climate Fund (GCF), Adaptation Fund, Climate Investment Funds (CIF), and DFIs. Develop blended finance structures (e.g., guarantees, subordinated capital, insurance-linked instruments) to de-risk investments. Conduct financial modeling, portfolio stress-testing, and risk analysis for climate and resilience-focused projects.
- Transaction Advisory & Risk Management Assist in structuring risk-sharing facilities, catastrophe bonds, and climate risk insurance mechanisms. Conduct due diligence on potential financial partners (banks, MFIs, insurers, fintechs) to assess their capacity to absorb and deploy climate capital. Support client teams in drafting investment memoranda, fund applications, and risk management strategies. Contribute to pipeline development of investable projects and financial institutions aligned with climate finance priorities.
- Investor & Stakeholder Engagement Engage with DFIs, climate funds, impact investors, and donor platforms to explore co-investment opportunities. Prepare pitch decks, term sheets, and presentations for investors and fund managers. Maintain databases of global climate/risk management funds and track emerging investment opportunities.
- Research, Policy & Knowledge Conduct global and regional landscape assessments of climate finance instruments and risk management solutions. Analyze policies, regulatory frameworks, and market gaps in climate and resilience finance. Produce case studies, briefing papers, and knowledge products that position MSC as a thought leader in catalytic and climate finance. Track and document innovations in climate risk management, parametric insurance, and blended capital mobilization.
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
- Strong analytical and structuring skills with a transaction orientation.
- Effective stakeholder engagement and investor relations.
- Publications or thought leadership contributions in belnded, climate or innovative finance.
- Team player with mentoring, team building abilities, strong research and consulting abilities.
- Agility to work across diverse geographies and assignments.
- Passion for leveraging finance to build climate resilience and manage risk.
Key Skills:
- Investment advisory, development finance, or blended/climate finance.
- Demonstrated exposure to climate finance funds (GCF, CIF, DFIs, etc.) or disaster risk financing mechanisms.
- Good knowledge of donor/ impact investors network that work in catalytic finance.
- Strong financial modeling and risk analysis skills.
- Excellent writing and presentation skills for donor and investor audiences.
Educational Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in finance, economics, development, public policy, business, or related fields.
