Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Heritage Researcher to join our team. The individual should have a broad understanding of both tangible and intangible heritage, and a deep commitment to researching, preserving, and promoting the rich cultural traditions of India. The role will involve engaging with both physical heritage (e.g., monuments, artifacts, architecture) as well as intangible cultural heritage (e.g., oral traditions, cultural practices, performing arts, festivals, rituals and knowledge systems).

Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative research on topics related to architecture, heritage, and culture.
  • Develop and curate content for publications, reports, exhibitions, and digital platforms.
  • Collaborate with architects, designers, and historians to translate research findings into engaging narratives.
  • Document field studies, site visits, and archival research through structured reports and visual content.
  • Review, edit, and fact-check research materials to ensure accuracy and credibility.
  • Support the development of proposals, presentations, and knowledge documents for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Stay updated with trends, methodologies, and emerging discussions in architecture and cultural heritage research.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s/ Master’s in Ancient History / Culture / Archaeology or related disciplines.
  • 5–7 years of experience in Ancient History, Archaeology, heritage projects (Field based research), Cultural sensitivity & community engagement.
  • Strong academic foundation in Ancient History, Archaeology, or Cultural Studies,
  • Knowledge/General understanding of Global and local heritage standards.
  • Proven experience in research writing, documentation, and publication.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
  • Ability to synthesize complex information into engaging content.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, research databases, and citation tools.
  • Interest in heritage conservation, architecture, and cultural storytelling.
  • Experience in architectural research, heritage projects, or museum/documentation work.
  • Exposure to interdisciplinary research involving art, culture, and urban studies.
