Through this, we seek to enhance experiences of citizens in accessing government health services at the last mile.
- The Maternal Anemia Management Project aims to strengthen Bihar’s health system to reduce anemia among pregnant and lactating women through a comprehensive, system-focused approach. Implemented across five demonstration districts—Jehanabad, Munger, Nawada, Samastipur, and Purnia—the project emphasizes capacity building, leadership development, and robust supply chain management to ensure uninterrupted service delivery.
- Piramal Foundation, in collaboration with SHSB and BMSICL, provides techno-managerial support to enhance planning, monitoring, and accountability mechanisms. The initiative focuses on strengthening institutions to optimize treatment and care for anemia, including the transformation of FRUs into Maternal Anemia Management Centres. It also seeks to build and maintain resilient supply chains for consistent availability of essential medicines such as Iron Folic Acid tablets, IV Iron Sucrose, and Ferric Carboxymaltose (FCM) as per MoHFW guidelines.
- Learnings from these demonstration districts will inform evidence-based scale-up across Bihar to achieve sustained improvements in maternal health outcomes.
This role will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
- Lead and oversee key components and work streams of the Maternal Anemia Management Project across five intervention districts in Bihar, ensuring alignment with project objectives, timelines, and performance targets.
- Coordinate with SHSB, BMSICL, and other key stakeholders to facilitate effective implementation of project and supply chain activities, including participation in review meetings and support for the issuance of directives and operational guidelines.
- Collaborate with BMSICL and district health facilities to ensure uninterrupted supply of FCM (Ferric Carboxymaltose), IFA supplements, and diagnostic devices, proactively addressing challenges through structured communication and regular follow-up.
- Provide technical leadership in procurement planning, warehousing, inventory control, and distribution of essential drugs and consumables to enhance supply chain efficiency.
- Facilitate strategic planning, budgeting, and review meetings at state and district levels to monitor program progress, identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective measures.
- Strengthen data-driven decision-making by ensuring accurate, timely, and validated reporting through digital dashboards and monitoring systems.
- Build capacity of field teams and government functionaries on supply chain management, anemia screening protocols, and maternal health service delivery practices.
- Conduct regular field visits to monitor implementation, validate data, and provide on-site technical guidance for improved last-mile service delivery.
- Collaborate closely with government counterparts, donor agencies, and implementing partners to align project interventions with state health priorities and ensure sustainability.
- Contribute to high-quality documentation, analytical reports, and presentations for senior management, donors, and review forums.
- Develop and execute detailed work plans, track performance against milestones, and ensure timely delivery of project and SCM-related outputs.
- Drive continuous system strengthening through innovation, adoption of digital solutions, and process optimization in public health supply chains.
Desirable Qualification & Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in public health system or supply chain management or in Pharmaceutical sector or related field
- Demonstrated experience in managing teams and projects, including planning, budgeting, and monitoring.
- Proven track record of successful engagement and collaboration with government agencies and other stakeholders.
- Experience working on large-scale, donor-funded projects.
- Familiarity with digital health solutions and their application in supply chain management.
- Experience in developing and delivering training programs for government officials and other stakeholders.
- Knowledge of the public health system, policies, and programs in India.
- Experience in research and evaluation related to supply chain performance.
Essential Skills:
- In-depth understanding of supply chain management principles, strategies, and best practices, particularly within the public health sector.
- Proven experience in managing and implementing complex supply chain initiatives, with demonstrable results.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to analyze complex data and develop strategic recommendations.
- Excellent leadership, management, and team-building skills, with experience in mentoring and supervising staff.
- Exceptional communication (written and verbal), presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with high-level stakeholders.
- Proficiency in using MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and project management software.
- Fluency in English and Hindi.
Travel: 40-50% (primarily within Bihar, with occasional travel outside the state as required)
