Job Description
VASCSC invites applications for the post of Programme Officers – Scientist B (PO–SB).
Job Responsibilities
The selected candidates will work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team to plan, implement, and support the Centre’s STEM education programmes. Responsibilities include conducting STEM education and science popularization activities; facilitating experiments and hands-on learning in VASCSC laboratories; mentoring students on science and mathematics projects; and coordinating school visits and Centre-based learning programmes. The Programme Officer will also design and conduct teacher training programmes; develop teaching learning material (TLM) such as kits, publications, exhibits, and modules; and contribute to the design of innovative experiments and activities. The role includes participation in outreach and awareness programmes, mobile science lab activities, and outdoor science engagements such as educational tours and field visits. The officer will support project development, proposal writing, networking, fundraising, and assist with project implementation, coordination, documentation, reporting, presentations, and related communications.
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
- First Class Master’s Degree in Science or Mathematics or equivalent from a recognized university.
- Skills and Competencies: Candidates should possess strong subject knowledge in Science or Mathematics, good written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and diverse groups. Creativity, problem-solving ability, and interest in innovation in education are essential. Proficiency in computer applications and internet-based tools is required. Fluency in English is essential. Working knowledge of Gujarati and Hindi is required. Knowledge of other Indian languages will be an advantage.
- Desirable Experience: Exposure or experience in areas such as emerging technologies in STEM education, robotics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, 3D printing, astronomy, model rocketry, aeronautics, or related fields will be an added advantage. Preference will be given to candidates with a background in pure sciences or mathematics and relevant experience.
