Job Summary: The main function of the Research Analyst – Consulting and Research would be to support the IIS projects in the Monitoring, research and evaluation domain, using appropriate tools and techniques. Some of the other responsibilities for the intern will include survey management, data management & analytics and project documentation.

Reporting and relationships: The position will report to the Director - IIS. The incumbent will be expected to work a typical 40-hour workweek, plus any additional hours to get the job done. The position will be based in Dehradun. This position will need to be flexible to work across different time zones and will require domestic travel.

Essential Job Functions

• Responsible for collecting data through participatory and qualitative methods (such as FGDs and IDIs).
• Transcription of collected qualitative data. Manage & conduct data cleaning and analysis under different IIS projects.
• Support the project management through collaboration with research partners
• Support the study design and development of methods and tools for baseline, midline and endline surveys
• Travel to remote rural locations for field work and data collection
• Document reports, insights, and manage communication with different stakeholders, both internal and external.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Has a deep commitment to social development and poverty alleviation, consistent with the IIS mission.
• Basic quantitative and analytical skills & research and data collection methodology skills. Ability to summarise disparate information in a clear and concise manner
• Skills/experience around developing research frameworks- especially monitoring and evaluation for different development contexts
• Quick learner and penchant for programming/coding and qualitative/quantitative analysis
• Ability to adapt to a constantly changing and growing business environment. We seek individuals who demonstrate an entrepreneurial aptitude and curiosity.
• Ability to apply knowledge in daily work and has deep knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)

Preferred Knowledge and Skills

• Knowledge of quantitative data analysis software such as STATA/R/SPSS/Python/SAS or any other, is preferred.
• Knowledge of qualitative data analysis software such as ATLAS.ti/NVivo is preferred

Education and Experience

• A Master’s degree in Economics/ Statistics/Rural Management/Forest Management/Agriculture/Social Work
• 2 to 5 years’ experience
