Roles & Responsibilities

The Research and Knowledge Associate will support research, documentation, and policy processes to strengthen climate-resilient agriculture and resilience efforts. They will facilitate stakeholder consultations and workshops, ensuring inclusive participation and promoting gender-responsive approaches that reflect the needs of women, and marginalized groups. The role also involves developing concept notes, guidance materials, and project documents while embedding gender equality, equity, and sustainability considerations.

  • Conduct research and data analysis on climate-resilient agriculture, adaptation practices, with a focus on capturing social and gender dimensions.
  • Develop knowledge products including concept notes, guidance documents, and project reports to support programme implementation and advocacy.
  • Facilitate multi-stakeholder consultations, workshops, and training sessions, ensuring inclusive participation of women, and marginalized groups, and documenting key insights.
  • Support the drafting of procurement-related documents (ToRs, RFPs, evaluation criteria) and contribute to the assessment of bids and consultant applications, embedding equity and inclusivity considerations.
  • Assist in monitoring and evaluation (M&E) processes by developing gender-responsive indicators, compiling project data, and preparing progress reports for internal and donor requirements.
  • Strengthen institutional knowledge-sharing mechanisms by capturing lessons learned, good practices, and success stories for dissemination at national and state levels.
  • Support conducting evidence-based research and providing inputs to align project activities with national and state climate action frameworks.
  • Coordinate with implementing agencies and state-level partners (such as SRLMs, State Skill Development Missions, Agriculture and Planning departments) to ensure smooth de-livery of project activities.
  • Provide technical and documentation support to the Sustainable Just Transition Taskforce and UNDP teams for advancing inclusive, community-driven, and science-based climate solutions.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

  • Master's degree in Environmental Science, Development Programme or any other subjects

Skills and experience

  • Over 5 years of professional experience in development programming, research, and project implementation, with a focus on promoting inclusive and equity-based ap-proaches.
  • Ability to design and implement strategic frameworks, action plans, and monitoring systems to strengthen programmes and policy initiatives.
  • Skilled in research, analysis, and knowledge management, with experience producing concept notes, proposals, reports, and guidance documents for diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in research, and programme implementation across climate change adap-tation, climate resilience agriculture and working with women farmers and cultivators.
  • Skilled in developing social inclusion plans, strategic frameworks, and monitoring sys-tems to mainstream gender-responsive and transformative measures.
  • Experienced in knowledge management, stakeholder engagement, and documentation of best practices.
  • Experienced in stakeholder engagement and capacity building, including facilitating consultations, workshops, and conferences, ensuring participation from diverse groups.
  • Proficient in qualitative research, data analysis, and documentation, with strong com-munication, coordination, and facilitation skills.
  • Previous volunteering, cross-cultural experience, or international exposure (through study, work, or internships) would be highly valued.
