The Water Resource Management vertical focuses on sustainable watershed development, water conservation, climate resilience, and community-led natural resource management initiatives.


Role Purpose

The Senior Manager – Water Resource Management & Watershed Programs will lead the design, execution, and scaling of watershed and water resource management initiatives across geographies. The role involves strategic planning, government collaboration, project oversight, stakeholder engagement, and team leadership to ensure sustainable and high-impact water interventions.


Key Roles & Responsibilities

1. Strategic Planning & Program Design

  • Develop long-term strategies for sustainable water resource management and watershed development, aligned with climate resilience and community needs.
  • Design integrated watershed programs covering soil and water conservation, groundwater recharge, irrigation efficiency, and ecosystem restoration.
  • Align programs with national and state-level water policies, Jal Jeevan Mission, watershed guidelines, and CSR priorities.

2. Policy Development & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with relevant environmental, water, and watershed regulations and government guidelines.
  • Support policy advocacy and technical inputs for water conservation and watershed planning initiatives.
  • Coordinate with government departments for approvals, convergence, and policy alignment.

3. Project Management & Implementation

  • Oversee end-to-end planning, implementation, and evaluation of water resource and watershed projects.
  • Manage project timelines, milestones, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure quality execution through robust monitoring, technical supervision, and field reviews.

4. Stakeholder & Government Engagement

  • Build and manage partnerships with government agencies, corporates, NGOs, technical institutions, and community organizations.
  • Represent BharatCares in multi-stakeholder forums, consultations, and review meetings.
  • Facilitate community participation and ownership in watershed and water management initiatives.

5. Budgeting & Financial Management

  • Prepare and manage project budgets and financial plans for water and watershed programs.
  • Ensure optimal utilization of funds and adherence to donor and organizational financial guidelines.
  • Support grant management, reporting, and audits related to water projects.

6. Data Analysis, Research & Impact Assessment

  • Use scientific data, GIS tools, hydrological studies, and field data to inform program planning and decision-making.
  • Monitor water quality, groundwater levels, and environmental indicators.
  • Lead impact assessments and documentation of outcomes related to water availability, agriculture productivity, and community resilience.

7. Risk Assessment & Emergency Response

  • Identify potential risks such as droughts, floods, pollution, and climate-related vulnerabilities.
  • Develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans for water-related risks.
  • Support coordination during water-related emergencies in project geographies.

8. Team Leadership & Capacity Building

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a multidisciplinary team of project managers, coordinators, and technical experts.
  • Build internal capacity through training, technical guidance, and performance reviews.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and collaboration within the team.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • Master’s degree in Water Resources Management, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Hydrology, Environmental Science, Rural Development, or related fields.

Experience

  • 8–12 years of progressive experience in water resource management, watershed development, or environmental programs.
  • Strong experience working with government departments, CSR programs, and community-based initiatives.
  • Proven track record in managing large-scale, multi-location projects and teams.
