About the Organization

The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) was established in 1936 as the Sir Dorabji Tata Graduate School of Social Work. In 1944, it was renamed as the Tata Institute of Social Sciences. The year 1964 was an important landmark in the history of the Institute, when it was declared Deemed to be a University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act (UGC), 1956.

Job Description

• Maintain comprehensive documentation for data intake, processing, analysis, and reporting.
• Design and plan fieldwork timelines, team assignments and data collection logistics.
• Coordinate and mentor research officers, interns, and field investigators, government officers, MSRDC officers, and fishing community members
• Analyse the survey data, prepare and document the assessment report
• Contribute to the development of survey and interview tools and coordinate among various stakeholders, and organize the training and capacity building programs
• Monitor progress of field data collection.
• Review field data for completeness and consistency

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

• Master's degree in Social Sciences, disaster management studies or environmental science
• Preferably experienced in research, monitoring and evaluation of policy, regulations
• Understanding coastal land and fishing community livelihood issues
• Proficiency in Hindi/English/Marathi.
• Ability to write and analyse secondary and primary databases
• Ability to do an independent field survey, and mentor the project staff
• Experience in data analysis and data interpretation and knowledge in SPSS, Excel
• Basic skills in the field of GIS for landscape mapping
