G-MAITRI (GUJARAT – MENTORSHIP AND ACCELERATION OF INDIVIDUALS FOR TRANSFORMING RURAL INCOME)

The Gujarat Social Entrepreneurship Fund (G-SEF), renamed as Gujarat – Mentorship and Acceleration of Individuals for Transforming Rural Income (G-MAITRI), launched by Hon'ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji on the occasion of Internal Women's Day 2025 is a collaborative initiative by the Gujarat Livelihood Promotion Company (GLPC) and the/Nudge Institute. This program aims to enhance rural livelihoods by supporting start-ups, Self-Help Groups (SHGs), social entrepreneurs, and innovators, fostering sustainable social progress and economic development in Gujarat.

Program Objectives:

  • Empowerment of Rural Communities
  • Financial Inclusion
  • Livelihood Enhancement

Key Offerings:

  • Innovation Grants: Provision of grants ranging from ₹20 to ₹30 lakhs to scale impactful solutions.
  • Capacity Building: Training programs focusing on entrepreneurship, financial management, and digital skills.
  • Customized Mentorship: One-on-one guidance from esteemed mentors and advisors.
  • Entrepreneurship Community: A supportive network facilitating continuous knowledge sharing among entrepreneurs.

Seed & Scale Initiative:

The program includes 'Seed Programs & Scale Programs that select 30 start-ups annually, offering grants up to ₹20 lakhs and ₹30 lakhs respectively. These programs are open to both non-profit section 8 companies and for-profit private limited entities, aiming to nurture innovation at various growth stages.

Eligibility Criteria:

Common Criteria

  • Private limited or Section 8 companies boosting incomes for SHGs, rural women farmers, and micro-entrepreneurs in Gujarat. 
  • Funding must be used exclusively for operations within the state.
  • DPIIT registration is a plus.

Seed-Stage Criteria

  • Ideation-stage applicants with a business plan can apply but must incorporate as a Private Limited or Section 8 company before funding.
  • Start-ups are eligible as seed-stage entities within 5 years of incorporation.

Scale-Stage Criteria

  • Open to entities with 5–10 years of operations since incorporation
  • Requires a minimum audited turnover of ₹50 lakh in the previous financial year.

Collaborating Organisations:

  • Gujarat Livelihood Promotion Company (GLPC): As the executive arm of Mission Mangalam and the implementing agency for the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), GLPC works through strategic partnerships between large industries and Sakhi Mandals/ Self Help Groups/ Producer Groups/ Service Groups/ Collectives of the poor, and through decentralized Micro Enterprise Ventures.
  • The/Nudge Institute: An action institute dedicated to poverty alleviation in collaboration with government bodies, working across sectors like rural development, agriculture, skilling, and economic inclusion.

G-SEF is committed to fostering meaningful partnerships among NGOs, businesses, and government agencies to drive long-term sustainable impact in Gujarat's rural areas.
