Through this education, we aim to promote legal and ethical values and foster the rule of law and the objectives enshrined in the Constitution of India. Furthermore, the University works toward dissemination of legal knowledge and its role in national development, so that the ability to analyse and present contemporary issues of public concern and their legal implications for the benefit of the public is improved.
About the Event
The National Law University Delhi first launched the Eklavya Research Affiliation Programme (ERAP) in 2023, with the objective of engaging in interdisciplinary research and to evolve quality publications through collaborative learning. As a step forward, NLUD now proposes ‘Eklavya 2.0’, i.e., Eklavya Research and Writing Programme (ERWP) to develop multidisciplinary academic engagement between scholars in law and social sciences. This provides an opportunity for NLUD to invite interested scholars outside the University to interact, exchange and learn from legal academia and share their valuable scholarship to create integrated knowledge for wider dissemination in the form of publications.
Why Eklavya 2.0:
The interdisciplinary integration of law and social sciences has attained a focus in legal research. The critical interdisciplinary research in law has contributed to understanding legal institutions, social behavior, and policy effectiveness. Legal realism movement in the early 20th century has emphasized the relationship between law and social sciences. Jurists like Oliver Wendell Holmes (1897) articulated that “the life of the law has not been logic; it has been experience”, indicating the need to understand law’s social context. This perspective laid the groundwork for modern interdisciplinary legal scholarship. The attempt in the Eklavya 2.0 is to promote interdisciplinary scholarship to evolve holistic knowledge of law and society. As part of ERWP, NLUD aims to interact with the wider scholarly community and explore new methodologies and approaches to learning. Most importantly, the scholarship that derives out of this interactive learning would be disseminated to society, in the form of publications.
