About the Organization

We are ViiV Healthcare: a specialist pharmaceutical company 100% dedicated to HIV medicines and research and focused on people living with HIV and AIDS.

At ViiV Healthcare we do things differently. From our unique origins to our innovative medicines, we push the boundaries of what people think is possible in HIV treatment and care.

Born out of a partnership between GSK and Pfizer in 2009, with Shionogi joining in 2012, at ViiV Healthcare we are determined to help end the HIV epidemic. Our one focused goal unites our employees located across the globe, with their expertise in research, manufacturing, policy and more, all guided by our mission to be here until HIV isn’t.

The 2020-2030 Positive Action strategy works towards achieving healthy communities in a world free of AIDS and embodies ViiV Healthcare’s mission of leaving no person living with HIV behind.

We aim to be a transformational partner that champions people and communities to end AIDS. We do this through putting people and communities first, strengthening capacity and collaborating strategically.

About the Grant

Positive Action provides funding to community-led and community-based organisations that are committed to eliminating AIDS and supporting people living with HIV.

The 2024 Innovator Stigma funding round is now open. This is an open call focused on community-based and community-led innovative approaches to address the multiple layers of stigma that impact People Living with HIV (PLHIV).

Funding available: £100,000 over two years (£50,000 a year)

Proposals for innovator grants should focus on testing and piloting new approaches. These approaches must be new to the funding applicant but can have been delivered by another organisation in a different location or aimed at a different target population. The project should be a two-year pilot that aims to build evidence before scale-up.

Focus of the call: Positive Action seeks to support projects that reduce or stop the drivers of stigma and facilitate social and legal environments that prevent stigma and discrimination of people living with HIV who also belong to a key population group.

For this funding round we want applicants to focus on one or more of the following key populations:

  • People living with Disabilities and HIV
  • Sex workers living with HIV
  • Migrants living with HIV
  • Displaced people living with HIV
  • The LGBTQ+ community and MSM living with HIV

We are looking for interventions that will tackle the stigma these groups face due to their identity AND due to living with HIV. We are particularly looking to support projects focused on addressing stigma in healthcare settings and interventions that address stigmatising laws and policies.

It is important that the relevant key populations are involved in the design of the programme and are given the opportunity to advocate for themselves.
