About the Grant
The Embassy of the Czech Republic in New Delhi announces a call for proposals for the Local Transition and Media Projects 2025 (hereafter “LTP”). The LTP´s fall under the Transition Promotion Program, which is the framework for the support of human rights and democracy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic (hereafter “MFA CZ”). The program aims to support non-governmental organizations that promote human rights, democracy and free media in their countries.
The Transition Promotion Program is a financial instrument of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic established in 2005. This program is aimed at supporting democracy and human rights by using the Czech Republic’s experience with the sociatal transition and democratization of the country. Projects within this program are implemented by local civil society organizations that is to underline the importance of civil society in democratization processes. This program does not cover projects in development cooperation (please see Small Scale Projects).
In terms of areas of support, MFA CZ aims to support civic society organizations in following priority areas (as specified here):
- human rights defenders;
- freedom of expression and access to information, incl. freedom of media;
- equal and widest possible political and public participation;
- building institutions of the rule of law;
- human rights issues in employment and environment.
In 2025, the call for proposals is also opened for independent media organizations respecting key principals of professional journalism and facing financial challenges. In that case, proposals for projects in media environment can be attributed to direct financial support.
The project proposal must align with at least one of above mentioned areas of support.
Implementation, Budget and Possible Contribution:
- The project must be implemented from the date of the signing of the contract (about March 2025) to end of September 2025.
- Tangible assets of the project should be marked with a logo “TRANSITION” and with a logo of Czech Aid (to be downloaded bellow). In case of project´s intangible assets, such as organisation of trainings etc., it is always mandatory to mention the financial support of the Transition Promotion Program.
- The financial contribution for an LTP is from 100,000 CZK to 500,000 CZK. Co-financing from other sources is arbitrary and desirable.
- The project has to be effective and economical, for which reason all bills/accounts must be documented.
- Each organization may apply for a contribution of one project.
Eligibility
- The financial contribution is intended for projects implemented in India, Sri Lanka and Nepal.
- Implementer of the LTP is a local subject with legal subjectivity in the country of the project implementation.
- Implementer must be eligible to sign contract with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic that establishes jurisdiction of Czech laws and Czech jurisdiction over the contract.
- An LTP must be implemented by a non-governmental subject. A contribution cannot be claimed by a political party or state institution.
- The subject must be eligible to receive foreign funding, f.e. in case of India to have a valid FCRA licence.
How to Apply
The application for an LTP grant must include:
- The filled identification form in the English language, signed and stamped by the subject;
- "Local currency" row shall contain the amount in INR (for project applications from India) and USD (for projects from Sri Lanka and Nepal). All the Czech crowns sections must be left blank as they will be completed by the Czech Embassy in New Delhi according to the valid exchange rate;
- A verified copy of the document (in English or translated into English) certifying that the applicant has legal subjectivity (it is officially registered) in the country of residence;
- A power of attorney in English that the person signed on the identification form is authorised to sign the application (f.e. a letter from a board of organization stating that he/she is the director of organization and eligible to sign contracts).
- A copy of a valid FCRA license, if applicable.
The excel file of the identification form must be delivered by November 3, 2024 at the latest to the Embassy of the Czech Republic in New Delhi to the e-mail address newdelhi@mzv.gov.cz and in copy to adam.podhola@mzv.gov.cz. You do not have to send the application by post.
In the email, please include a short description (max. 80 words) of the project proposal. Do not include any other irrelevant documents such as annual reports, letters of intent or information about previous projects. Try to compress the files before sending.
Deadline: November 3, 2024
Delivery of the soft copies of application to the email of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in New Delhi.
