ChangeX is a community engagement platform designed to get funding and resources directly into the hands of people to lead impactful projects in their neighbourhoods.

We work with social innovators to scale proven solutions to environmental, economic, and social

issues and partner with companies and foundations to support local communities with the necessary funding. Our funders include Google, the LEGO Foundation, Microsoft and Paramount, among others.

ChangeX is an international non-profit organisation, set up in 2015 and headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, with teams based across Europe, the Americas, Africa, and Asia.

About the grant

The Google Udaan India Fund:Visakhapatnam, managed by ChangeX, is designed to empower

communities across the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region to take practical action on issues that matter locally, from vocational upskilling and digital literacy to sustainability initiatives and environmental resilience.

At Google, being a helpful neighbor means more than just providing technology, it’s about being a dedicated community partner in the places we call home. In that spirit, we are proud to collaborate on this initiative to support the long-term resilience and growth of the Visakhapatnam region.

This fund will enable community-led projects in two ways.

1. Communities can access support to start a range of proven ideas; from solar energy and rainwater harvesting projects to career-readiness initiatives, vocational training programmes and a hands-on STEM lab for schools. Any organisation that meets the eligibility criteria for the idea can apply, including schools and community groups.
2. Registered organisations with valid FCRA eligibility can apply for funding for their own project related to the fund’s themes, with up to ₹1,400,000 per project available.

Eligibility

• If applying with your own community project: Applicants must be registered organisations with valid FCRA eligibility. Relevant documentation will be required.
• If applying to start one of the proven ideas: Applicants must meet the eligibility criteria listed for the specific idea. Funding will be managed by a designated partner organisation associated with the idea, who will receive and administer the grant and work with you to implement the project.
• Projects must address one of the following themes: (i) workforce skilling and career pathways, (ii) supporting small businesses to thrive, (iii) AI and digital training to build education-linked skills and career readiness, (iv) watershed and water resilience to strengthen environmental outcomes , (v) energy and sustainability initiatives to reduce footprint and improve resilience.
• Projects must take place in the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region.
• Successful applicants must complete their project and submit an impact report with both qualitative and quantitative data within 12 months of receiving funds.
• Applicants must be at least 18 years old.

How to apply

• Apply through the ChangeX website (link below) by 30 April, 2026.
• Wait for your application to be reviewed. We'll let you know if it was successful by 11 June, 2026.
• If successful, complete some simple steps within 30 days before starting your project.
• Receive the first portion of funding and use it to make your project happen!
• Share your project's impact to unlock the final portion of funding.
