UNDP India’s new Country Programme (2023-2027) builds on our prior work and aims to provide an integrated approach to development solutions in three strategic portfolios:

• Enhanced economic opportunities and social protection to reduce inequality, with a focus on the marginalized
• Climate-smart solutions, sustainable ecosystems and resilient development for reduced vulnerability

South-South cooperation, gender equality and social inclusion are promoted across the pillars. The programme is supported by a framework of renewed partnerships and blended finance solutions, strategic innovation and accelerator labs, and data and digital architecture.

About the Proposal

The project is primarily geared towards creating a model of climate change adaptation action that takes into consideration local knowledge that is further informed by the scientific information on climate change impacts. The premise being that local knowledge need to be better understood and evidenced throughout the adaptation process for better representation of the needs of small-scale producers. Hence, this project is designed to leverage capacities of local climate research community and involve them in the decisionmaking process for Climate Adaptation outcomes. The advanced and localized climate science to be integrated with local knowledge base –would be made available by the national technical institution like the Indian Institute of Technology-Delhi (IIT-D). The project on Localizing Data Science for Climate Change Adaptation aims to demonstrate an exemplar for India and in turn, the region, that will enable interaction of various knowledge systems to develop robust and locally relevant climate adaptation actions which can be incorporated into policies and programmes.

Scope of Work

• Identify key success stories from the project, focusing on impactful outcomes and beneficiary experiences. Conduct interviews and gather first hand accounts from those involved in or impacted by the project.
• Collaborate with project stakeholders to understand the core messages and objectives that the creatives should convey. Incorporate feedback and make revisions as needed to align with stakeholder expectations.
• Create a detailed communication plan that specifies how knowledge products will be disseminated to various stakeholders. Define communication channels, frequency, and key messages tailored to each stakeholder group.
• Thoroughly review the content of the video documentation of projects for accuracy, clarity, and consistency. Ensure the content aligns with the overarching goals of the project and adheres to UNDP’s standards.
• Collect updated content, including new project updates, case studies, success stories, and any other relevant information. Ensure content is well-organized, relevant, and aligned with the project’s objectives.
• Provide a comprehensive report with observations on the current website and actionable suggestions for improvements.
• Develop well-structured stories/blogs that highlight the achievements and key milestones of the project. Ensure the stories are engaging, factually accurate, and aligned with UNDP’s communication guidelines. Include visuals such as images, infographics, or charts to enhance storytelling.
• Collaborate with the UNDP communication team for feedback and revisions. Finalize and submit the stories/blogs in the required format for publication on the UNDP website.

Expected Outputs and Deliverables

• Development of Content for Projects
• Review of deliverables for baseline survey by market research agency for the Communication Strategy of the GEF E-Waste Management Project
• Development of comprehensive communication strategy for GEF e- waste management project
• Support in finalizing series of air pollution videos.
• Support in finalizing the IEC material under the Strengthening DRM for Maharashtra project.
• Support in development of content for GCF coastal ECRICC project

Institutional Arrangement : The Consultant will work under and directly report to the National Project Manager for the BMGF project at ACE unit, UNDP. All deliverable submitted by the Consultant will have to be approved and accepted by the National Project Manager for release of related payment tranches.

Duration of the Work: 6 months

Duty Station: Home based with frequent in-personal interactions with project team at UNDP Country Office, New Delhi

Eligibility

• Post Graduate Degree/Diploma from a recognized institution in Communications or related field
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in strategic communication, content creation, and digital media management.
• Proven track record of developing high-quality content, including success stories, blogs, reports, documentary and other communication materials for international development projects.
• Proven track record in reviewing and providing feedback on the design and content of documents, especially in climate resilience or related fields.
• Previous experience with UN agencies or similar international organizations, particularly in developing communication strategies and plans.

Job Knowledge and Technical Expertise

• Video editing programs: Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premier, After Effects
• High proficiency in Graphic Design programs: Adobe Creative Suite including Adobe After Effects, and Adobe Photoshop
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Excellent power point and keynote presentation preparation skill.
• Shooting on DSLR and other professional camera.
