About the Organization
The Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) is a public private initiative that has collaboratively evolved through consultations with multiple constituencies including Indian and international academia, state and central governments, multi & bi-lateral agencies and civil society groups.
Job Description
The field coordinator will oversee day-to-day activites at one of three sites under the project, coordinating with the project coordinator and subject-specific consultants to streamline and optimize activities.
Job Responsibilities
- Work closely with health system actors and project staff to coordinate and execute project activities in designated areas
- Supervise project staff and activities appropriate to the project’s specific objectives
- Maintain documentation, track progress, and ensure compliance with project goals.
- Proactively identify and address any challenges or deviations from the project plan during field activities, ensuring swift resolution of implementation issues.
- Provide regular written progress updates to the Project Coordinator and participate in team meetings to discuss outcomes, challenges, and potential modifications.
- Take initiative in troubleshooting and problem-solving, addressing any unforeseen issues that may arise during fieldwork promptly.
- Travel as required.
- Any other task assigned by the Supervisor/ PI of the Project.
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Master’s Degree in any field from a recognized university/institute with 2+ years work experience in the health system or executing community-based projects, ideally in the same sector (e.g., public health, social work, training etc.)
Desirable:
- Master’s Degree in Nutrition, Nursing, Public Health, Social Work, or a related health discipline from a recognized university/institute.
Experience:
Essential:
- At least two years’ experience in working within the health system or development related projects.
Desirable:
- Experience in leading a team of up to 5 subordinates.
Skills & Competencies:
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal in English and Local Language (Khasi or Garo).
- Ability to work independently in field settings, demonstrating resilience, adaptability, and problem-solving skills.
