Job Description
We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Senior Manager, Program Learning Strategy to enhance the scalability and effectiveness of the India Safe Water (ISW) team by optimizing internal processes, systems and staff capabilities.
This individual will be in charge of defining the ISW learning agenda across workstreams in close collaboration with the ISW Strategy and Operations Teams, setting up learning goals and agendas, and managing a team to achieve those goals and mainstream them into our programming. The Senior Manager will support all of Evidence Action global water programs with initial focus on India.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in managing highly technical projects and a commitment to programmatic system strengthening and optimization, with emphasis on learning and development. They must understand how to lead indirectly and maintain strong relationships with a range of stakeholders across the organization. This candidate should have over 10 years of experience, and with a successful track record in managing teams and collaborating with peers.
Job Responsibilities
Development of Learning Strategies
- Create strategies to identify and prioritize learning needs across different workstreams and regions, such as technology improvement, community engagement, market shaping and procurement.
- Develop learning agendas and goals based on programmatic needs, risks and priorities, with the support of the respective workstream owners
- Coordinate a team of workstream owners in charge of following the learning agendas and allocate resources appropriately, including team’s bandwidth of indirect reportees
Learning and Development Management
- Together with Managers in charge of the implementation of the different workstreams, define work plans and establish milestones to meet learning needs and ensure these cover the needs across workstreams and regions.
- Work closely with the Safe Water Now leadership and the People and Culture team for designing and implementing successful learning and training programs.
- Ensure that goals are effectively met and collaborate with SWN Strategy and Operations teams to embed those lessons into implementation work plans.
- Support development of team capacity to establish systems that incorporate lessons learned and standardize processes for rapid scale-up.
- Assess the effectiveness of training programs and make necessary adjustments to improve outcomes.
Collaboration with Stakeholders
- Work with department heads and senior management to identify learning and training priorities while ensuring priorities alignments across workstreams and regions. Indirectly lead and manage initiatives across stakeholders
- Coordinate with the P&C team to align the SWN team’s learning strategies to the overall learning and development strategy of Evidence Action.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and development across the SWN team.
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
Essentials
- Bachelor’s degree in public administration, product development, organizational development, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in managing highly technical projects with a focus on strategy and programmatic growth, training, or a related field. Exposure to program design and implementation is highly desirable.
- Ability to use data to guide decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Proven track record in designing and implementing successful learning and training programs.
- Effectively collaborate with employees at all levels.
- Team management and leadership abilities to inspire and motivate others.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time both domestically and internationally.
Desirable
- 3+ years of experience in adult learning principles and instructional design.
- Analytical skills to assess training needs, evaluate program effectiveness, and develop strategic plans.
- Experience implementing, evaluating or designing projects in water or WASH.
