Peepul is an education-focused non-profit organisation committed to transforming India's education system and enabling every child to reach their full potential. We work closely with national, state, and local governments to transform government schools and government systems. Currently, we work with governments in Delhi and Madhya Pradesh to meaningfully have an impact across ~325,000 teachers and 9.75 million+ students across 100,000+ schools.
At Peepul, we collaborate with school systems to build the capacity of leaders, teachers, and institutions. We advocate for policy improvements, support mentoring and monitoring, and enhance student-teacher engagement in classrooms. Our work has been recognised internationally, including receiving the Commonwealth Education Awards for Innovation and being featured in reports by respected organisations like the UN and the National Ministry of Education, India, and we are well-funded by both Indian CSR and prominent international Foundations working toward a common purpose of excellent education for the most disadvantaged sections of society.
Job Description
We are a looking for an experienced and passionate professional to drive our Fundraising function to help build a strong foundation for our future growth and ambitious scale plans. The Head – Fundraising role will play a pivotal role in shaping the organization's trajectory, managing a high-performing team, expanding the donor pipeline, strengthening donor relationships, and designing an overall fundraising strategy that supports Peepul’s ambitious scale and impact goals.
This role is critical in developing and managing annual funding goals, securing multi-year commitments, and ensuring a diversified and sustainable fundraising portfolio. The individual will work closely with the CEO, senior leadership, and external stakeholders to maximize funding opportunities and enhance Peepul’s visibility in the philanthropic ecosystem.
Job Responsibilities
Strategic Fundraising Leadership: o Work closely with the Senior leadership team develop and implement a comprehensive and sustainable fundraising strategy that supports Peepul’s programmes and growth objectives. Develop and execute a multi-year fundraising strategy ensuring financial sustainability and risk mitigation. Diversify fundraising sources across international foundations, CSR, HNIs and retail funding. Tailor strategies to different donor segments to maximize engagement and contributions.
Donor Research: Proactively identify, research, and cultivate new donors, including foundations, corporates, and individuals, and cultivate these relationships to support Peepul's mission.
Strategic Partnerships:
- Lead establishment high-level strategic partnerships, ensuring alignment with Peepul’s mission and long-term strategic growth.
- Drive the renewal and scaling of multi-year partnerships, positioning Peepul as a preferred partner for major funders.
Donor Management:
- Maintain and enhance relationships with existing donors, ensuring regular communication and updates on Peepul’s work, impact and milestones.
- Develop and execute high-quality donor engagement plans, including progress reports, site visits, and impact data.
- Develop and implement tools, systems, and processes for managing Peepul’s past, current, and potential donor base, creating a robust year-long funder pipeline.
External Representation: Serve as a key external representative of Peepul’s fundraising efforts, enhancing the organization's visibility, credibility, thought leadership in the philanthropic community.
Grant Proposal Development: Lead the process of identifying grant opportunities, developing grant proposals and completing entire grant lifecycle including reporting, compliance, and relationship management with grantors, ensuring accountability and transparency.
Team Management:
- Build, lead, and mentor a fundraising team that is passionate about Peepul's mission. Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.
- Foster cross-functional collaboration with programme, finance, and communications teams to align on Peepul’s impact and growth story.
Knowledge management:
- Position Peepul as a thought leader in education sector fundraising, driving knowledge-sharing within the ecosystem.
- Conduct research and develop insights on emerging fundraising trends, and 2 innovative financing models in education philanthropy.
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
At Peepul, we seek talented professionals passionate about driving educational transformation and making a positive impact. We are looking for individuals who possess the following qualifications and meet the role requirements:
- Educational Background: Master's degree in business administration, social work, public policy or related discipline.
- Work Experience: We value both professional and personal experience. Candidates with 15+ years total experience with at least 10 years’ experience in managing teams, mentoring staff, and managing partnerships with Indian and International donors and other stakeholders.
- Networking: Strong network of existing relationships with CSR & philanthropic organizations.
- Other Skills: Proven experience of negotiating with senior stakeholders, both internally and externally. Results-focused with a strong sense of ownership. Diplomatic and skilled in achieving results through influence and personal credibility.
- Language Proficiency: English and Hindi
