About the Organization

Mariwala Health Initiative (MHI) is a grant-making, advocacy and capacity-building organization. We fund innovative mental health initiatives, with a particular focus on making mental health accessible to marginalized persons and communities. MHI partners with projects that together constitute a multi-pronged approach, through intervention programs as well as advocacy in the areas of law and policy.

We align with a rights-based, psychosocial approach that views mental health concerns in the context of disability rights. We expand on the narrow medical understandings of mental health and illness and look at these through a systemic lens. We understand oppression based on caste, gender, religion, region, ability, and sexuality as major contributors to mental health distress. We encourage community-based interventions and actively promote the deinstitutionalization of mental health services.

Job Responsibilities

•  Evaluate new proposals received, and proactively evaluate organizations for partnerships, based on MHI’s vision and values.
• Interact and strengthen relationships with partner organizations
• Understand and help partners with developing plans for the implementation of the project and support them in any non-financial requests
• Monitor paperwork and other related documents related to grant-funded programs
• Maintain reports and all other documentation received from partners.
• Monitor and evaluate the budget and spending of partners along with MHI finance team on a regular basis in relation to their past work, current team and future plans
• Ensure that the long-term objectives of the projects funded are met
• Conduct regular audits to ensure that the program is run as per defined parameters and in line with goals partner organizations have defined and set
• Identify the work of partners that can be documented as case studies &/or models ● Execute the Grants strategy along with the Grants team and guidance from the Grants Lead and CEO

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ yrs of experience in the development sector or funding sector
• Education qualifications: Background in mental health / community mental health / global mental health / social work / social sciences/development studies desirable
• The candidate should have past experience in evaluating funding requests or applications
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, applicable to a variety of stakeholders in English. Proficiency in Hindi/other major Indian languages is desirable.
• This position is not open for remote working and selected candidates will need to be based out of Mumbai or Delhi
• Preference will be given to candidates with gender, sexuality, caste, religious marginalisation(s) and persons with disabilities.

Salary

Salary range: Rs 75000/- pm - Rs 80,000/- pm
