Position Title: Officer - Business Development 

Reports to: Head – Resource Mobilization

Job Purpose 

Operation Eyesight is seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Business Development Officer to strengthen our institutional fundraising portfolio, with a particular focus on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) partnerships, philanthropic foundations, and bilateral/multilateral institutions. This role will play a key part in securing sustainable financial support for our eye health and community development programs in South Asia.

Key Accountabilities

  1. Identify, develop, and secure high-value partnerships with CSR entities, foundations, and institutional donors aligned with Operation Eyesight’s mission and strategic priorities.
  2. Manage the full lifecycle of institutional donor engagement, from prospecting and proposal development to reporting, compliance, and relationship stewardship.

Primary Responsibilities

Donor Mapping and Business Development

  • Conduct comprehensive donor research and market intelligence to identify new CSR, foundation, and institutional funding opportunities.
  • Build and maintain a robust pipeline of prospective donors and partners.
  • Develop tailored pitches, concept notes, and capability statements aligned with donor priorities.
  • Represent the organization at donor meetings, CSR networking forums, industry events, and conferences.

Proposal Development and Submission

  • Lead and coordinate the development of high-quality, customized proposals and grant applications.
  • Work closely with internal teams (Programs, Finance, M&E, Communications) to gather inputs, budgets, and relevant documentation.
  • Ensure that proposals reflect a strong value proposition, measurable outcomes, and alignment with donor goals.

Donor Stewardship and Relationship Management

  • Develop and implement engagement plans for key donors and prospects.
  • Ensure timely submission of donor reports, updates, and impact stories.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with partners to ensure relationship continuity and future funding potential.
  • Monitor donor satisfaction and provide solutions to address issues or concerns.

Coordination and Internal Collaboration 

  • Collaborate closely with the program team to align funding opportunities with operational capabilities and needs.
  • Work with the Communications team to develop fundraising materials and donor-centric content.
  • Coordinate with finance and compliance teams to ensure adherence to donor requirements and audit standards.

Monitoring, Documentation, and Reporting

  • Track funding trends and maintain up-to-date records of donor contacts, proposals, and funding status using CRM tools.
  • Prepare monthly progress reports on fundraising efforts and pipeline development.
  • Document best practices and lessons learned for continuous improvement.

Working Conditions and Job Requirements

  • Positioned in Hyderabad/ Banglaore/ Mumbai
  • Frequent travel to donor locations and project locations
  • Flexible working hours to accommodate the head office working hours
  • Act as an ambassador for OE in a variety of professional and social settings

 

Person – Eligibility Criteria 

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Master’s degree in business administration, development studies, social sciences, or related fields.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in business development, institutional fundraising, or donor relations, preferably in the development or non-profit sector.
  • Proven track record of securing funds from CSR, foundations, and institutional donors.
  • Strong understanding of CSR regulations in India and trends in philanthropic giving.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; experience in proposal and report writing is essential.
  • High proficiency in MS Office and CRM systems; knowledge of Salesforce or similar tools is an asset.

Skills & Knowledge

 Technical

  • Understands the local and national CSR funding/investment framework
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for documentation and reporting.
  • Basic knowledge of CRM tools and donor management software.
  • Ability to conduct market research and data analysis for funding opportunities.
  • Understanding of financial modeling and budgeting principles for NGO projects
