Job Description
The Project Officer will support the Project Manager in executing the project's three core components: Sustainable Water Management, Regenerative Agriculture/Sustainable Agricultural Practices, and Governance. The role involves field-based coordination, stakeholder engagement, data collection, and reporting to ensure the successful implementation of project activities. The officer will work closely with local communities, farmers, government bodies, and other key stakeholders to promote sustainable practices and integrated wetland management.
Job Responsibilities
Sustainable Water Management
- Assist in the collection and analysis of hydrological data to assess the water flow, wetland connectivity, and ecological health of Nalsarovar and its satellite wetlands.
- Support in implementing water management strategies and monitoring ecological flow/hydrological regimes to maintain wetland health.
- Conduct site assessments to monitor water quality and quantity in collaboration with technical experts.
- Carry out periodic wetland health assessments and generate annual wetland health cards of key wetlands.
- Liaise with water management authorities and ensure timely data sharing and collaboration.
- Regenerative Agriculture/Sustainable Agricultural Practices
- Collaborate with policymakers, agricultural departments, and commodity markets to align project goals with sustainable agriculture policies.
- Support monitoring and evaluation of field-level outcomes on water management and sustainable practices in cotton farming.
Governance and Stakeholder Engagement
- Assist the Project Manager in coordinating with district administration, line departments, and other stakeholders for integrated wetland management.
- Support the development of institutional mechanisms for collective decision-making on water resource management and wetland conservation.
- Facilitate regular meetings, workshops, and consultations with key stakeholders, including local communities and government officials.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting
- Maintain comprehensive records of all project activities, write project update reports.
- Support the Project Manager in preparing regular progress reports, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and learning points.
- Monitor field-level activities and ensure adherence to project timelines and objectives.
- Document case studies, success stories, and best practices emerging from project interventions.
Administrative Support
- Provide logistical and administrative support for field visits, stakeholder meetings, and training workshops.
- Maintain organized records of project data, including hydrological assessments, farmer engagement, and stakeholder communications.
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Agriculture, Natural Resource Management, or a related field.
- 2-3 years of experience in project management, sustainable agriculture, or water resource management, preferably in the development sector.
- Strong understanding of hydrological systems, sustainable farming practices, and governance frameworks.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team, with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Office, data analysis tools, and report writing.
