Job Description

CEEW seeks to hire a Research Intern for its Clean Air Team to expand its work in the space of air pollution governance. The chosen candidate will support the team to carry out extensive qualitative and quantitative research, including literature review, regulatory, legal and data analysis, stakeholder mapping, and support the advancement of our research and policy engagement. The candidate may work remotely or from the office. However, they shall be flexible to travel for stakeholder meetings, consultations, and surveys carried out, if any.

Job Responsibilities

Research

  • Conduct literature reviews and summarize findings from reports to aid researchers in air pollution research.
  • Keep a tab on the latest legal, policy and research developments in India and worldwide, pertinent to air pollution management. This shall require extensive regulatory and legal research.
  • Stakeholder mapping in the air pollution sector.
  • Contribute to research content for the organisation's web pages, blogs, issue briefs, etc.
  • Contribute to presenting the analyses in a coherent narrative in different formats such as journal publications, reports, op-ed articles, dissemination, and stakeholder meetings.
  • Support the team in responding to legal / regulatory queries that arise from time to time.

Programme assistance

  • Assist with project implementation, including helping with preparing presentations, factsheets and other communication material.
  • Support efforts to use new media platforms for wide dissemination of CEEW's work and, in turn, closer engagement with the wider community.
  • Participate in team meetings and assist with preparing minutes.
  • Accompany the other team members for meetings with other stakeholders; prepare minutes of the meetings and assist with relevant follow-ups, whenever requested.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

  • Enrolled in or completed a Bachelor's/Master's degree in law, regulatory governance, public policy, economics, environmental science or natural resource management. Preference will be given to candidates having a law/regulatory governance background.
  • 0-2 years of relevant research experience.
  • A fair understanding of environmental law, policy and governance in India and worldwide.

Main skills

  • Must have strong legal, policy, and analytical research skills.
  • Must have the capability to carry out systematic literature reviews and familiarity with basic research methods.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency with G-Suite / MS Office, decent proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint/Google Slides is crucial.

  • Willingness to learn new (research and project management) skills.
  • Ability to adapt to the new environment and deliver under tight deadlines in a professional environment.
  • Striving for rigour in research and quality in work output.
  • Ability to effectively work in a team while being able to independently drive research with minimum assistance, when time demands.
  • Ability to dig deeper into details, while also keeping a sense of the broader objectives and big picture.
  • Willingness to learn, grow and develop at personal and professional front, at a rapid pace with a steep learning curve.
  • Ability to work in an interdisciplinary and multicultural environment.
