Job Description
IPE Global’s Social and Economic Empowerment practice works towards building girl capital, empowering women and nurturing resilient communities by creating inclusive and sustainable solutions including but not limited to policy development, capacity building, adaptive management, community mobilisation, behavioural change communication, deepening social safety nets, beneficiary feedback analysis, poverty assessment, and evidence-based monitoring. To strengthen SEE’s work on mainstreaming gender across these areas, IPE Global is inviting applications from eligible candidates for the Specialist- Gender and Development position. The specialist will be responsible for promoting mainstreaming gender perspectives and ensuring the inclusion of gender considerations across all of SEE’s work. The specialist will lead the design of strategic and long-term program and initiatives. S/he will be responsible for accountable leadership, providing guidance, problem-solving support and leading discussions with stakeholders.
Job Responsibilities
Program Design and Implementation
- Co-develop comprehensive programmes that address women's health and nutrition needs while challenging and transforming harmful gender norms.
- Contribute to the development of strategic plans and frameworks that incorporate gender perspectives and promote gender equality.
Technical Anchorship
- Provide expert advice on gender and development issues to programme teams, partners, and stakeholders.
- Conduct research to understand the gender dynamics affecting women's health and nutrition and use findings to inform programme strategies. Document lessons learned and best practices.
- Quality assure deliverables from gender perspectives and anchor specific gender related outputs/deliverables/ products for government/donors.
- Identify training and capacity development needs for an array of program stakeholders and develop, and if needed conduct sessions and workshops to build the capacity of staff, partners, government functionaries on a variety of gender integrations.
Knowledge Management
- Provide support for communication and outreach, including events
- Lead the creation of a knowledge hub for research, innovation, and thought leadership on gender.
External engagement
- Coordinate with the nodal departments, partners and CSOs to implement designed interventions.
- Establish and nurture external partnerships that will contribute to the project's success.
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
- Post-graduate in Gender Studies, Development Studies, Public Policy, Social Sciences or related fields with at least 15 years of experience managing large projects/ programs.
- Solid understanding of programs related to women and child development in India.
- Exceptional results orientation combined with strong relationship management skills. Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with government counterparts, implementation partners, and development agencies & donors.
- Demonstrated experience building and leading strategic partnerships with key stakeholders from diverse sectors, including NGOs, government, and the private sector.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a track record of writing for publications, journals, etc., of reputation.
Desirable
- Prior experience working with the Women and Child Development department at the state and/or national level.
- Experience in leading and managing a diverse team of professionals. Proven track record of working with external partners, agencies, and governments.
