About the Fellowship

Reckitt is dedicated to improving health and hygiene in communities.

In the past five years, Reckitt has partnered with experts to catalyse more than 60 social entrepreneurs across 13 countries, fuelling breakthrough solutions that improve access and drive inclusive growth for nearly a million people.

Now, we're scaling our commitment, launching Reckitt Catalyst – a five-year commitment to provide funding, mentorship and expertise to support 200 social innovators by 2030, to scale access to health and hygiene impacting 5 million people across the world.

What is Reckitt Catalyst:

An initiative to scale access to health and hygiene across the world. By providing funding, mentorship, and expertise to female and underrepresented founders, Reckitt is ensuring that world-changing ideas don't just emerge, they thrive.

We believe innovation and entrepreneurship are critical to fast-track systemic change. Are you an entrepreneur improving access to healthcare, water, sanitation, or hygiene in the U.S., Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya, India, Pakistan, Indonesia, Mexico, or Brazil? Then apply now.

Reckitt Catalyst will offer selected finalists a 6-month accelerator programme including:

  • Skills-based mentorship and training delivered by YSI and Health Innovation Exchange
  • Flexible funding (investments of up to $30k per entrepreneur)
  • Increased visibility and access to public procurement opportunities
  • Connection to a community of practice and the global ecosystem of actors in the health & hygiene space

Objective:

Reckitt Catalyst accelerates bold solutions that expand access to essential Health and Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) innovators.

In partnership with Yunus Social Innovation and Health Innovation Exchange, the initiative will support women and underrepresented founders with innovative solutions that expand access to health and WASH in the following 8 markets: Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya, Brazil, Mexico, India, Indonesia, and Pakistan.

We are looking for social innovations that address the challenges of WASH through:

  • Innovation and decentralization
  • Information, education & community management
  • Social innovations that address the challenges of health through: Preventive & Public Health Enablement, Decentralised Screening & Diagnostics, Accessible Care Delivery & Disease Management, Accessible Care Delivery & Disease Management.

We are especially excited about ventures that:

  • Are enterprises led by underrepresented founders, or individuals who come from demographic groups that have historically faced systemic barriers to accessing resources, opportunities, or recognition in the entrepreneurial ecosystem. These groups include, but are not limited to, women, non-binary and LGBTQIA+ individuals, Black, Indigenous, and other people of colour (BIPOC), people with disabilities, immigrants and refugees, individuals from low-income communities, and youth.
  • Embed ethical AI into their solutions to improve accuracy, personalisation, or efficiency in care delivery and diagnostics.
  • Are pushing the boundaries of science and engineering through deep tech, such as biotechnology, advanced diagnostics, or novel materials for healthcare.
  • Offer B2B models with strong financial sustainability and potential for system-level transformation.
  • Explore B2C models that radically lower the cost of care and improve accessibility for underserved populations, especially when combined with creative go-to-market or financing strategies (e.g., pay-as-you-go, community health financing, embedded insurance).
  • Focus on FemTech to address women’s and girls’ health needs across their life stages from menstruation and fertility to maternal care, menopause, and mental health.
  • Advance access to medicines, particularly for remote or last-mile populations, leveraging tech to address affordability, traceability, or delivery gaps.
  • Expand mental health access with culturally aware, digitally-enabled, and scalable tools that address stigma and care deserts.
  • Enable access to health and WASH solutions for the prevention and reduction of diseases such as diarrhoea, cholera, and STDs for the following beneficiary groups:
