About the Organization

CIVICUS is a global alliance of civil society organisations and activists working to strengthen citizen action and civil society throughout the world. More than 17,000 members from over 175 countries make up our vibrant and Majority World led alliance.

Since 1993, we build solidarity among activists across borders and network and resource civil society around the world.

About the Program

The CIVICUS Youth Action Team is a global initiative that amplifies youth voices in civil society and fosters meaningful youth engagement in the CIVICUS World Alliance. The Youth Action Team perceives civic space as the final frontier and wants to make sure the youth have the tools to fully engage. It is a place for co-creation and designing innovative projects, the YAT sets its own agenda and work plan to make sure they develop projects in the areas that are currently more critical for young activists, social innovators and human rights defenders.

Who Should Apply

We are looking for young individuals who:

• Are between 18-30 years old by 31 December 2025.
• Have experience in youth activism, civic engagement, or social movements.
• Are committed to advancing youth rights and participation globally.
• Have strong communication and leadership skills.
• Are ready to dedicate time to actively contribute to the YAT’s work.
• Know how to organise and run online networking events that encourage dialogue and information exchange.
• Are comfortable working in English and in a different time zone with a global team.
• Have a monthly internet usage commitment of at least 10 hours to the CIVICUS Youth Action Team.
• Can attend a yearly in-person meeting lasting one week (if weather permits travel).
• Are active participants in a civil society group that is promoting constructive change in your neighborhood, whether it is registered or not.
• Have experience in joining a national or regional leadership team of a social movement or network.
• Have approval from your organisation or company before applying.
• Are skilled in organising people to support progressive social justice objectives at local, regional, and global levels.
• You come from North, Central America, South America, the Caribbean, North, West or Southern Africa, Middle East, Central Asia, East Asia, Southeast Asia? (Mexico, Zimbabwe and Zambia are not eligible since there is existing YAT representation in this cohort).
