About the Initiative
CSRBOX Group works in partnership with multiple stakeholders including corporates, philanthropic organisations, government departments, and grassroots non-profit organisations to design and implement community-focused health programmes across India. Through these partnerships, CSRBOX supports interventions that address gaps in access to essential healthcare services for underserved populations.
As part of its preventive and promotive healthcare initiatives, BharatCares invites Expressions of Interest (EOI) from credible NGOs, social enterprises, trusts, and service providers for deployment of fully equipped Ophthalmic Mobile Vans on a monthly rental basis, along with trained medical and support staff.
The initiative aims to strengthen access to basic eye screening, early detection of visual impairment, and vision correction services in rural, peri-urban, and underserved communities, in partnership with reputed corporate CSR allies.
Scope of Work
The selected organisation(s) will be responsible for providing and operating an Ophthalmic Mobile Van on a monthly rental basis, covering the following components:
1. Mobile Van Deployment
- Provision of a dedicated ophthalmic mobile van in good working condition
- Adequate space for examination, refraction, and patient flow
- Power backup (generator/inverter) and basic seating/workstation setup
- Branding space for BharatCares and CSR partner visibility
- Compliance with applicable motor vehicle and health safety norms
2. Medical Equipment & Infrastructure
The van should be equipped to conduct basic and intermediate eye examinations, including but not limited to:
- Visual acuity charts (Snellen / LogMAR)
- Auto refractometer / retinoscope
- Slit lamp biomicroscope
- Direct / indirect ophthalmoscope
- Tonometer (non-contact or applanation)
- Trial lens set and trial frames
- Torchlight and other basic ophthalmic diagnostic tools
3. Human Resources
- Qualified Ophthalmologist (MBBS with MS/DNB Ophthalmology or equivalent)
- Ophthalmic Assistant / Optometrist for screening and refraction support
- Driver / Support staff for mobile unit operations
4. Service Delivery
- Community-based eye screening and vision assessment
- Refraction and prescription of spectacles
- Facilitation of spectacle fitting and dispensing (in-house or through partner opticians)
- Identification and referral of cataract and other eye morbidity cases to higher facilities
- Maintenance of basic patient records and daily service reports
5. Reporting & Documentation
- Daily and monthly service delivery reports
- Basic beneficiary data, referrals, and spectacle distribution details
- Photo documentation and activity records as per BharatCares requirements
Eligibility Criteria
Interested organisations must meet the following criteria:
- Registered NGO / Trust / Society / Section 8 Company or legally compliant service provider
- Minimum 2 years of experience in eye care services or mobile health unit operations
- Access to or ownership of a fully equipped ophthalmic mobile van
- Availability of qualified ophthalmologists and trained ophthalmic support staff
- Demonstrated operational capacity to deliver services in field settings
- Prior experience working on CSR-funded or community health projects preferred
