About S3IDF India:

S3IDF is an international nonprofit organization that builds inclusive market systems to promote equitable economic and social development. Its current focus over the next 2 to 3 years is to work on Agricultural Value Chain solutions and Solid Waste solutions by partnering extensively with local NGOs and other groups including government agencies and equipment/technology suppliers as well as financial institutions. Through partnering that it arranges, S3IDF provides financing and technology know-how and capacity building assistance to small pro-poor infrastructure projects and enterprises. Its replication criteria and pro-active post-implementation monitoring and evaluation and lessons dissemination efforts are geared to induce finance institutions to increase support for such small infrastructure projects, which can be highly cost-effective in their poverty alleviation and environmental benefits. Key Responsibilities :

The Manager - Fundraising & Communications  will be responsible for maintaining a sound knowledge of S3IDF’s mission, programs, target population and strategic vision and use this information to prepare, and oversee the preparation of fundraising proposals and other written materials. As members of a small and growing organization S3IDF staff are expected to exhibit a passion for our mission and values, sound autonomous judgment and an inherent flexibility, which lends itself to productively engaging in various ways on a broad range of internationally collaborative projects.

 

The primary duties for the Manager -Fundraising & Communications  include but are not limited to:

 

Fundraising :

  • Work collaboratively with both Indian and internationally-based S3IDF staff to implement the organization’s fundraising plan, including developing key external funding partnerships and expanding and diversifying the organization’s donor base.
  • Balance inputs from fundraising and project staff to effectively evaluate potential grant opportunities.
  • Support junior staff member and ensure the process of developing a funding application from conception to submission runs smoothly, including directly writing portions of applications as well as effectively iterating upon colleagues’ work.
  • Update and maintain current records in S3IDF’s CRM, funding reference database, and other supporting systems.
  • Foster relationships with high value individual and institutional funders on behalf of S3IDF.
  • Effectively collaborate with the US office to manage S3IDF’s global fundraising strategy, providing input on both the detailed and overview levels.
  • Assist with other fundraising projects as requested.
    • Preparing concept notes, project proposals, compiling reports, finance & budgeting, following up pending applications, from various sources, presentations to donors and partners, publications & public awareness on various ongoing activities in the institution.
    • Performing other duties assigned by the CEO / CPO as and when requested or necessary.

 

 Communications :

  • Represent S3IDF at various sector events including conferences, roundtables and other meetings.
  • Generate new content for and contribute to the creation and revision of business development documents (project pitch documents, presentations, etc.) to drive revenue generation.
  • Support the development of a proactive online partner and donor strategy to increase revenue and build S3IDF brand recognition and organizational credibility.
  • Identify, create and edit content for electronic and print pieces, such as website, newsletters, brochures, annual reports and other written content (blog posts, project stories, etc.) to expand S3IDF’sbrand awareness.
  • Oversee implementation of organizational communications and social media plan.
    • Experience in using social media like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other relevant social media tools for organizational communication.
    • Experience in tracking and reporting on traditional news media - both local and national and build linkages with journalists and media houses that report  on S3IDF’s sectoral work.

 

Education : Graduate / Post Graduate, preferably in Management / Communications.

 

Work Experience :

At least 7- 10 years of grant based  fundraising  or other relevant high level writing experience in the non-profit sector. Further experience in  communications including exposure to  digital media and traditional media is an important  yardstick for selection. A Senior Manager  position can be considered for candidates having relevant experience. 

 

Personal Skills & Attributes :

  • Exceptional written communication skills, ability to write clear, structured, articulate and persuasive proposals
  • Superior proof-reading, information gathering and listening skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to multitask
  • Capacity to gather, evaluate and present a variety of data in a concise manner
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet internal and external deadlines
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft office, previous Dropbox and database experience and use of Adobe Creative suite (especially InDesign) a plus
  • Enjoys networking and ability to interact with external stakeholders and not intimidated by position or power.

 

Languages :

Superlative English skills – both spoken and written is mandatory. Spoken proficiency in atleast one of the following four languages is a must: Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. Knowledge of other/more languages will be an added advantage

 

Assessment

Evaluation of qualified candidates for this position may include a substantive assessment which will include a face to face interview and may involve other steps of assessment.
