Established in Bangalore, India, Hasiru Dala focuses on the socio-economic inclusion and empowerment of waste pickers through initiatives to promote identity rights, education, healthcare, housing, pensions, skill development, employment, and entrepreneurship in sustainable waste management and green business. Stakeholder engagement with government, citizens, and others is a key strategy to build opportunities for waste pickers.
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced, empathetic, and community-focused Assistant Manager to work with our Mental Health Program. This role will be pivotal in overseeing the planning, implementation, and evaluation of initiatives that support the mental well-being of waste pickers and their families, ensuring effective delivery of services with dignity and care.
Job Responsibilities
- Collaborate with diverse stakeholders to bring resources to the community and support participants in their mental health and substance abuse recovery journey.
- Build and maintain networks with service providers—government bodies, medical institutions, and other organizations—to ensure access to mental health services.
- Develop and deliver training materials on mental health & substance abuse recovery for community members, sanitation workers, and other training initiatives conducted by Hasiru Dala.
- Stay updated with the latest research, interventions, and best practices in mental health and integrate them into program strategies.
- Manage program budgets effectively.
- Design targeted services and interventions for youth facing mental health challenges.
- Establish and maintain a feedback system from the community to assess and improve interventions.
- Document program activities, prepare reports, and maintain records for accountability and learning.
- Supervise and support field staff to ensure smooth operations and effective outreach.
- Perform other tasks as required by the team to strengthen training and program outcomes.
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience working with communities on issues of mental health.
- Proven ability to design and implement community-level interventions.
- Strong communication skills with proficiency in Kannada and Hindi.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools with solid documentation and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated empathy, problem-solving ability, and commitment to working with marginalized communities.
