Job Description
WWF-India is one of the largest organisations, engaged in wildlife and nature conservation for over 50 years. We invite applications from candidates for the position of Senior Programme Officer - Nature Connect to be based in our New Delhi office.
Job Responsibilities
Trails and On-ground Nature-based Experiences:
- Facilitation of nature trails, workshops, expert talks/webinars, skilling or capacity building training and such on engagements.
- Liaison with stakeholders to coordinate and implement the engagements on ground with comfort level with diverse audience target segments (including but not limited to school children, college students, corporates, and general public).Design, develop and deliver engaging outdoor learning modules to promote understanding of biodiversity and conservation issues.
- Organize hands-on activities and field sessions that enhance nature-based
- Collaborate with government agencies such as the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and other institutional partners to plan and execute biodiversity engagement programs
- Ensure timely coordination and reporting of field activities, maintaining strong relationships with both government and non-government stakeholders
Citizen Science, Monitoring & Surveys:
- Conduct biodiversity monitoring surveys, including flora and fauna identification, data collection, and reporting, focusing on target species and ecosystems.
- Assist in setting up biodiversity monitoring protocols and maintaining survey databases.
- Mobilisation, training and monitoring with field demos for citizen science engagements, blitzes and outreach for national and international competitions or events.
- Support WWF’s citizen science initiatives by involving local communities in data collection and species monitoring through platforms like iNaturalist.
- Organize and contribute to citizen science campaigns focusing on biodiversity documentation and species mapping.
Scientific Validation & Natural History Expertise:
- Demonstrated expertise in the identification of local flora and fauna, including birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, butterflies, and plants.
- Collaborate with scientists and conservationists on species identification and / or content vetting.
- Mentor and train others, including students, volunteers, and community members, in species identification and field techniques.
Community Engagement & Awareness:
- Engage with local communities, patrons and schools to raise awareness about local biodiversity and conservation efforts.
