CivicDataLab (CDL) harnesses the potential of open knowledge movements to strengthen the data-for-public-good ecosystem and enable citizens to engage in matters of public reform. We work closely with governments, non-profits, think-tanks, media houses and universities to enhance their data and technology capacity to better data-driven decision-making at scale.

Our current areas of expertise include digital public goods & infrastructure (DPGs & DPI), climate action, public finance, urban development, open contracting and law & justice. We have co-created digital public goods like open data platforms, data exchanges, AI models and citizen-led apps for improving participatory data-driven governance in India and other countries.

Job Description

We are looking for an Associate Manager having 3-6 years of experience of working with a multidisciplinary team, to lead end-to-end talent acquisition, employee onboarding, other HR operations and policies etc. You will also be managing organisational culture, Bandhu (aka) employee relationships and team growth. You will support and advise the leadership team on organisational change management and ensuring strategic alignment with the organisation's vision.

Job Responsibilities

Recruitment and Policies

  • Oversee all aspects of the Bandhu life cycle, including recruitment, talent sourcing, background verification, interviews, selection, onboarding and off-boarding thereby ensuring a positive and inclusive experience.
  • Work to develop, review and ensure smooth adoption of workplace policies including but not limited to Leave Policies, Payroll and more.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to design performance management methods, providing guidance on goal setting, evaluations, and career progression.
  • Oversee and lead the yearly salary revision cycle in coordination with the leadership and finance team.
  • Lead the legal vetting of HR and other governance policies whenever needed, with the help of Legal counsel of our company

Office Administration & Operations

  • Ensure the in-person office Guidelines Policy is put into practice along with the help of Operations team
  • Maintain relevant database pertaining to office operations in line with HR policies and practices
  • Co-ordinate with the operations team to help track gaps in the office operations

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

  • At least 3 years of experience in people management, HR operations, or organisational development with proven experience working with multidisciplinary teams in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to ensure clarity and consistency in internal communications with experience in managing internal communication, employee well-being, and cultural alignment.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human Resources Management, Organisational Development, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) principles and frameworks and understanding of employment laws and organisational compliance (e.g., POSH Act for Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) functionality).
  • Prior experience in office management, administrative tasks, and event planning is a plus.
  • Knowledge of best practices in operational management, HR policies, and employee engagement strategies and ability to create an empathetic and engaging work environment.
  • Ability to draft, review, and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs) such as leave policies, expense reimbursements, and others.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust, collaborate at all levels, and communicate excellently to improve team dynamics and cultivate emotional intelligence.
  • Prior experience of managing the end-to-end recruitment process, including onboarding & offboarding.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills to manage organisational calendars, meetings, and events.
  • Knowledge of working in Google-suite, Microsoft applications, and other knowledge management systems.
  • Lead various necessary training sessions relating to workplace practices, sensitisation sessions, etc.
