About the Organization
Since 1999, SEWA Delhi has been working in multiple communities across the National Capital Territory of Delhi, SEWA Delhi works with informal economy workers to improve their access to social services, linkages, social protection, and livelihood opportunities. They do so by facilitating access to skilling and financial assistance for women workers and providing training on digital literacy, financial literacy, market orientation, and alternative livelihoods. The aim is to ensure that these programs cater to women workers; diverse life cycle needs and provide them with a network of support eventually enhancing their capacities to make their communities sustainable. SEWA Delhi also plays a crucial role in integrating women with SEWA,s programs, cooperatives and government programs to help them achieve economic independence.
Job Description
The Communications Associate will play a key role in amplifying the voices of women workers and youth in the informal sector through strategic communication and storytelling. The position will focus on capturing and disseminating the impact of SEWA Delhi’s programs across digital, print, and on-ground platforms.They will work closely to implement outreach strategies aimed at enhancing SEWA Delhi’s presence, communication reach, and relationship with grassroots communities.
Job Responsibilities
Coordinating and executing tasks in SEWA Delhi from a communications perspective:
- Ideate and execute on-ground awareness campaigns and community engagement activities highlighting SEWA Delhi’s initiatives on skills, livelihoods, social security, and women’s leadership.
- Coordinate with SEWA Delhi field teams to ensure timely and quality delivery of communication materials and outputs.
- Build the capacity of local team members, trainers, and grassroots leaders (Aagewans) in using digital media tools for storytelling and documentation.
- Manage and regularly update SEWA Delhi’s social media pages, ensuring consistent, engaging, and community-centered content across platforms.
- Collaborate with Programme Coordinators to identify campaign opportunities and partnerships with external organizations, corporates, and development partners.
- Develop, design, and disseminate IEC materials (such as posters, leaflets, banners, short videos, and infographics) to support awareness, mobilization, and visibility activities across SEWA Delhi’s programs.
- Support the SEWA Delhi team in fundraising and donor communications through project briefs, newsletters, impact stories, and campaign materials.
- Contribute to standardization and visibility efforts across SEWA Shakti Kendras, ensuring consistent use of communication templates, materials, and branding.
Acting as the single point of contact from the Communications Team for collaborations:
- Strengthen SEWA Delhi’s visibility through content sharing and dissemination with partners, donors, and media.
- Simplify research findings, reports, and case studies into easy-to-understand formats for community members and public communication.
- Identify and build collaborations with local media houses, non-profits, and advocacy networks.
Collection & coordination of grassroots content:
- Collaborate with field teams to regularly collect and organize content from ongoing programs and activities.
- Document inspiring stories and experiences that reflect SEWA Delhi’s impact and the collective strength of its members.
- Maintain and update a centralized repository of case studies, photographs, videos, testimonials, and other communication materials.
- Strengthen internal communication channels to ensure effective information flow and continuous storytelling from the ground.
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
- 2–4 years of experience in communications, preferably in the development or non-profit sector.
- Ability to cater to both programme-specific and organizational communication needs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Hindi.
- Experience in grassroots storytelling, interviewing, and documentation.
- Experience in digital media content creation, including photography, short video editing, and social media management.
- Proficiency in design tools such as Canva, InDesign, or Illustrator.
- Experience working directly with grassroots communities and women collectives.
- Understanding of issues related to women’s livelihoods, gender equity, and informal work.
- Strong coordination and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks.
- Willingness to travel to SEWA field centers and project sites within Delhi.
Salary
45,000-50,000 per month CTC ( Based on Experience)
