Job Description
The Coalition for Food Systems Transformation in India (CoFTI), born from the UN Food Systems Summit 2021, is committed to reshaping India’s food system. CoFTI secretariat is anchored by WASSAN. With a vision of universal access to safe and nutritious food, the coalition targets hunger, malnutrition, and health. The coalition champions biodiversity, climate resilience, and livelihood protection. Key focus areas are Diets & Consumption, Agroecology & Small Producers, Food Businesses, Food Waste & Food Loss, Food Environments, Policy & Institutions, and Food System Leaders.
The Food Systems Transformation Coordinator will play a central role in strengthening the coalition’s operations, facilitating collaboration across members and , supporting coordination of the Secretariat’s and Coalition’s activities.. The position requires strong coordination, networking, analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with a demonstrated interest in food systems, agriculture, and public policy.
Job Responsibilities
Coordination of Action Labs
- Facilitate and anchor the functioning of all member related engagements in CoFTI. Ensure that engagements are well-structured, productive and that outcomes and follow-ups are clearly documented. Carry out tasks including and not limited to organizing meetings, preparing agendas, documenting discussions, tracking progress against milestones etc.
- Promote cross-learning and collaboration between members, and support pathways to scale promising ideas and initiatives.
- Coordinate capacity building initiatives with diverse stakeholders to foster alignment, synergy, and shared understanding.
Stakeholder Engagement and Coalition Strengthening
- Engage with CoFTI members, partners, and external stakeholders to promote collaboration and enhance the reach of CoFTI’s network.
- Assist in expanding coalition membership and building partnerships with government agencies, civil society groups, private sector actors etc.
Project Management and Strategic Support
- Assist the CoFTI Secretariat in conceptualizing and developing new initiatives,
- Support coordination of projects associated with CoFTI and its partners.
- Provide operational support for convenings, conferences, Action Lab events, workshops, and national- or state-level dialogues.
- Assist the CoFTI Secretariat team with documentation, reporting, and other organizational tasks as needed.
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
- Master’s degree with minimum 3 years of relevant experience in agricultural sciences, climate change, sustainability, food systems, rural development, public policy etc. (or)
- Bachelors’ degree with minimum 5 years of relevant experience in agricultural sciences, climate change, sustainability, food systems, rural development, public policy etc.
- Strong understanding of food systems issues, including agroecology/ natural farming/ organic farming, climate adaptation, value chains, nutrition, food wastage,public policy.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, Google Workspace, and virtual collaboration tools.
Desired Skills:
- Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement, multi-stakeholder platforms, or network-based initiatives.
- Experience of having worked for CSOs and multilateral organisations will be an advantage.
- Strong organizational, coordination, and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently while also being a collaborative team player.
- Passion for food systems transformation and commitment to equity, sustainability, and ecological justice.
Languages:
- Excellent communication skills in English is mandatory. Knowledge in other languages would be an asset.
