Job Description

The Fund-Raising Officer (Data & Insights) will coordinate the India CO’s database function, ensuring that data systems support fundraising and programmatic decision-making with integrity, accuracy, and compliance. This role will develop and oversee with support of the IG Manager, the implementation of database strategies, manage database administrators, and ensure the optimal performance, security, and accessibility of all data assets.

Under the direct supervision of the Fundraising Manager, the Fund-Raising Officer (Data& Insights) will be focal point for maintaining data quality, facilitating smooth data integration across platforms, establishing data governance and enabling advanced data analytics in support of evidence-based decision-making. Key responsibilities include database design, system maintenance, data transformation, data security and compliance, and the development of data access policies. The role also contributes to the organization’s digital transformation by supporting scalable, cloud-based data architecture and improving overall data governance. The role plays a strategic part in fundraising operations. Effective database management and compliance with data privacy standards are not only technical requirements, but also essential enablers of UNICEF’s ability to build trust with supporters, deliver seamless donor experiences, and unlock actionable insights for campaign optimization. Therefore, the position of Fundraising Officer "Data & Insight" sits at the intersection of ICT and fundraising. It requires both technical expertise to oversee secure, reliable systems and an understanding of fundraising needs to ensure that data can be effectively translated into strategies for donor acquisition, retention, and long-term engagement.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

  • A university degree in any of the following fields is required: Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or another relevant technical field.
  • Additional certifications or training in database management, data security, or cloud technologies (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) are considered assets.

Work Experience:

  • A minimum of one year of professional experience in database administration, data analytics, data management, or a related field is required, with progressively increasing responsibilities, including direct responsibility for database performance, integrity, and security.
  • Experience in managing and optimising relational and non-relational database systems (e.g., SQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MongoDB) and the ability to use different applications such as Python (pandas, NumPy) for data transformation, scripting, and automation is essential.
  • Familiarity with national data protection regulations and global standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) is desirable.
  • Knowledge of data governance frameworks, including policy creation, stewardship models, and compliance standards, is desirable

Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language (Hindi) is an asset.

Desirables:

  • Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
