Job Description
As part of UNICEF’s commitment to high-level donor accountability, the Health Section seeks to consolidate evidence and lessons learned from two major grants:
- Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (MNCH): Interventions implemented across four states (U.P, M.P, Bihar and Orissa), with particular focus on Maternal & Newborn Care Units (MNCUs), Immediate Kangaroo Mother Care (i-KMC) and CPAP.
- Inclusive Early Childhood Development (i-ECD): Interventions implemented across six states (TN, Kerela, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Maharashtra). These initiatives have generated valuable evidence on programmatic outcomes, advocacy approaches, and engagement with government stakeholders.
Consolidating these lessons in a systematic manner is essential to demonstrate progress, ensure transparency and accountability to donors, and provide guidance for scaling or replicating successful interventions.
Job Responsibilities
- Consolidate the annual progress on the MNCUs in four interventional States of U.P, M.P, Bihar and Orissa (Compile quantitative data on MNCU indicators; Collect qualitative insights through stakeholders’ engagement of health departments; Cross-verify data with state and district health records to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Consolidate the annual progress on iECDs in six interventional States of TN, Kerela, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Maharashtra (collect qualitative insights through stakeholders engagement and document advocacy efforts and collaboration strategies that contributed to MNCU performance improvements)
- Analyze outcomes on MNCU intervention across the four interventional States U.P, M.P, Bihar and Orissa. (Analyze trends, identify gaps, and extract lessons learned from the four states; Consolidate findings into a coherent report highlighting annual progress, impact, challenges, and recommendations for scale-up; prepare summaries and visualizations for use in donor reporting and government briefings)
- Analyze outcomes on i-ECD intervention across the six interventional States of TN, Kerela, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Maharashtra (analyze trends, identify gaps, and extract lessons learned; Consolidate findings into a coherent report highlighting annual progress, impact, challenges, and recommendations for scale-up; prepare summaries and visualizations for use in donor reporting and government briefings)
- Documentation of lessons learnt and best practices from the two interventions
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
- A university degree in Community Medicine or Public Health or Pediatrics.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in implementing maternal and newborn interventions at the state.
- Proven familiarity with facility-based care systems, including MNCU models, i-KMC, and CPAP interventions.
- Experience working with government health departments, UN agencies, or development partners will be an advantage.
- Demonstrated experience in data analysis, report writing, and preparation of evidence-based documentation for donor reporting, as demonstrated through sample of previous documentation/donor report.
