Jan Vikas Samiti (JVS), established in 1998, is a registered NGO working for the holistic development of marginalized communities in Uttar Pradesh and beyond. Our core interventions focus on Women Empowerment, Community Health, Inclusive Education, Disability Rehabilitation, WASH, Livelihood Promotion, and Skill Development for Youth. Guided by the vision of building an inclusive and just society, we empower disadvantaged groups to access education, employment, and equal rights while strengthening their participation in social, economic, and political life.
Job Description
We are seeking a creative, dynamic, and skilled Lead – Communication Officer to strengthen JVS’s visibility, brand, and engagement with diverse stakeholders. The role will focus on developing and executing communication strategies, managing social media and digital presence, preparing high-quality communication and fundraising materials, and supporting donor engagement through impactful storytelling and campaigns.
Responsibilities
Digital & Social Media Management
- Manage JVS’s website and all social media platforms to ensure timely, engaging, and brand-consistent content.
- Develop creative digital campaigns to boost visibility, engagement, and fundraising.
- Monitor analytics and optimize digital presence for improved reach and effectiveness.
Content Development & Documentation
- Write and design brochures, newsletters, case studies, event reports, success stories, and annual reports.
- Document field-level interventions through photography, videography, and storytelling.
- Support semi-research, surveys, and campaigns on key program themes.
Fundraising Communications
- Collaborate with the Fundraising team to create donor-focused communication materials (concept notes, donor updates, appeals, presentations, reports).
- Prepare campaign materials including flyers, posters, social media posts, audio-visual content, and digital stories.
- Assist in building relationships with potential donors by preparing tailored communication packages and updates.
Branding & Media Outreach
- Develop and implement strategies for organizational brand building and media coverage.
- Draft press releases, news articles, and coordinate with media for visibility of JVS initiatives.
- Support communication needs during events, campaigns, and donor visits.
Cross-Team Collaboration
- Work closely with program teams to gather field insights and produce communication materials.
- Provide inputs for training, IEC materials, and advocacy campaigns.
- Ensure consistency in messaging and branding across all platforms.
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
- Graduate/Postgraduate in Mass Communication, Journalism, Media Studies, Public Relations, or a related field. Experience: Minimum 3 years in communications, media, or public relations (experience in the development sector preferred).
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong content development, writing, and editing skills (English & Hindi).
- Proficiency in social media management, website content management, and digital tools.
- Experience in graphic design, photography, videography, and basic editing (Canva/Photoshop/Video editing tools preferred).
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and multitasking abilities.
- Creative thinker with attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Understanding of development sector themes (education, health, disability, women empowerment) desirable.
