About the Organization

Vardhishnu is a Jalgaon (Maharashtra) based Not-For-Profit working in the education space to provide  marginalised children, especially the child waste pickers and child laborers, a safe, secure, and happy childhood. Vardhishnu has 4 programs - Anandghar, Anandghar Fellowship, Community Collective, and Library program. Currently, Vardhishnu is running five Anandghar Learning Centers in Jalgaon, Amalner, and Chopda, catering to around 300 children.

Job Description

We are looking for a passionate Library Fellow Educator who will be responsible for inculcating a reading culture among the children and team. Also, managing and enriching library spaces across various locations, including our Vardhishnu office, Anandghar centers, and through our ‘Library on wheels’ initiative. This role combines comprehensive library management, educational programming, and community engagement.

Job Responsibilities

Comprehensive Library Management:

• Maintain and organize library spaces at the Vardhishnu office, Anandghar learning centers, and ‘Library on Wheels’ locations.
• Design and implement efficient library systems to ensure accessibility across all sites.
• Catalogue and maintain an entire collection of books and resources.
• Lead the ‘Library on Wheels’ initiative, making library resources accessible to various communities.
• Conduct regular library sessions for children at Anandghar centers, Vardhishnu office, and ‘Library on Wheels’ locations.
• Design creative, age-appropriate literacy activities tailored to each setting.
• Establish a consistent educational approach across all library spaces.
• Monitor children’s progress and adapt programs to suit their interests and needs.

Resource Coordination:

• Manage book exchanges between educators for Anandghar, ‘Library on Wheels’.
• Maintain an inventory of all library materials and resources.
• Ensure the timely rotation of books among community locations.

Community Engagement:

• Foster a love for reading and learning among children, educators, and team members.
• Create an inclusive environment that celebrates diverse stories and perspectives.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Prepare and submit monthly reports on program activities.
• Develop and maintain a Library Handbook.
• Document the process and impact of the library program.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

• A passionate educator with a love for books and children’s education.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Creativity in designing educational activities and programs.
• Basic proficiency with documentation and reporting.
• Language preferred: Marathi & Hindi
• Basic computer proficiency.
• A person willing to up-skill by reading different suggested articles and books by the team.
