Job Description
Jhpiego is hiring a Program Officer based in Odisha to support implementation of cancer prevention, screening, diagnostics, treatment, and continuum of care interventions under the Odisha Comprehensive Cancer Care Plan (OCCP), in collaboration with the State NCD Cell and National Health Mission (NHM).
The Program Officer will play an essential role in supporting planning, coordination, and monitoring of cancer care program activities across districts, contributing to strengthened service delivery, data-driven decision-making, and effective stakeholder coordination.
Job Responsibilities
Programme Coordination & Implementation:
- Support planning and implementation of cancer care activities related to oral, breast, and cervical cancer screening, diagnostics, treatment, and follow-up.
- Assist in coordination with State NCD Cell, district health teams, and Jhpiego PMU to ensure alignment with programme objectives and timelines.
District Support & Monitoring:
- Coordinate with district NCD teams and health facilities to support effective roll-out of cancer care
- Assist in tracking district-level progress and follow up on key action points identified during reviews and field visits.
Diagnostics & Treatment Support
- Support monitoring of cancer diagnostic services, including colposcopy, thermal ablation, biopsy, and imaging services at the district level.
- Assist in tracking service utilisation, referrals, and basic operational issues in coordination with state and district teams.
Training & Capacity Building
- Support coordination of trainings, mentoring sessions, CMEs, and review meetings for doctors, nurses, and programme staff.
- Assist in documentation and follow-up of training and mentoring activities in coordination with mentoring institutes.
Data Management & Reporting
- Assist in the collection, consolidation, and validation of programme data related to cancer screening, diagnostics, treatment, and referrals.
- Support preparation of routine programme reports, presentations, and summaries for state and internal reviews.
Coordination & Documentation
- Facilitate coordination with state and district stakeholders for meetings, reviews, and programme follow-up.
- Support documentation of meetings, action points, and programme progress in line with state and Jhpiego reporting requirements.
Additional Duties
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor to support programme
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
- A graduate degree in B Pharma/M Pharma; Bsc Nursing/Msc Nursing, MPH or related discipline is essential.
- Preference will be given to those with a postgraduate or master's degree in the relevant
- 1–3 years of experience working with the government health programmes, preferably under NHM or NP NCD programmes.
