About the Organisation
Sangath is one of India's leading mental health research non-profit organisation. It was founded in 1996 with its headquarters in Goa; major hubs in Delhi and Bhopal, and programme sites in many parts of the country. Sangath's mission and expertise lies in developing and evaluating mental health interventions to be delivered through existing public systems. Its major thematic areas are: Child development and disability; adolescent health; mental disorders; and ageing. Sangath was awarded the prestigious MacArthur Foundation International Prize for Creative and Effective Institutions in 2008 and the WHO Public Health Champions Award for India in 2016. It has completed a number of randomized controlled trials for mental disorders in India, including the only two autism trials in the country.
Job Description
Sangath is seeking a Programme Coordinator – Implementation (WHO-CST) to deliver and oversee the intervention for caregivers of young children with neurodevelopmental disabilities. The PC will be trained by master trainers and achieve competency through a practice group model before independently delivering the program, ensuring adherence to SOPs and quality standards. They will support the recruitment, training, and supervision of non-specialist providers, coordinate their competency development, and oversee any cultural adaptation of the Hindi version for delivery in Delhi. The role involves frequent field visits, liaising with external stakeholders, and supporting research and data management activities as needed.
Job Responsibilities
Recruitment, Training, and Competency
- Complete training in the WHO Caregiver Skills Training (CST) and gain familiarity with the PASS Plus intervention.
- Attend skill-based assessments and achieve competency in delivering interventions independently.
- Liaise with external bodies and government authorities at district/state levels to facilitate engagement of non-specialist providers.
- Lead and support the recruitment, training, and competency development of non-specialist providers.
- Monitor intervention sessions for adherence to timelines and quality standards.
- Conduct regular supervision of sessions and provide refresher trainings as needed.
Documentation
- Contribute to developing new content or refining existing intervention materials.
- Lead drafting, translation, and quality-checking of materials in Hindi and English.
- Support digitization of content, including blueprinting and synchronization of English materials.
Collaboration and Others
- Establish and maintain effective communication with external stakeholders, including health professionals and community collaborators.
- Support the in-house clinical team and conduct clinical sessions when required.
- Participate in clinical meetings, supervisions, and workshops for team capacity building.
- Collaborate with different project work streams and Sangath administrative teams.
- Undertake additional tasks assigned by senior programme management within CDG projects.
- Participate actively in all Sangath activities, particularly those organized by the Child Development Group (CDG).
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
Essential,
- Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Public Health, or other health-related fields.
- Experience in delivering interventions in a relevant field will be prioritized.
- Fluency in English and Hindi, including written communication.
- Comfortable using digital tools (mobile phones, laptops, audio/video recorders).
- Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel), internet, email, and Outlook.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
Desirable,
- At least 2 years post-qualification experience working with children with autism or other developmental disorders.
- Experience in mental health research, particularly clinical trials.
- Willingness to travel to field sites within India.
- Experience training non-specialist health workers in autism-based interventions.
- Experience working with ASHA workers or Anganwadi workers.
- Experience in developing intervention content for children with autism.
- Experience in delivering home-based interventions to parents.
